Town’s full of them. Understand it because they’re sons of United fans past (when we didn’t have a team (sic)).
We’ve not even got near to getting anything of them yet, love to see how they’d react if we did, instead of patronising little Wigan fans about how we were unlucky to have an outside of the box penalty given against us while they’re 3 up or whatever.
For what it’s worth, I thought 5-0 was a little flattering for them. Wasn’t a penalty and Sammon shouldn’t have gone, though this made little difference as he’s a Championship player at best. Reminds me a bit of Jason Roberts but without the finesse and goals, all arms and having to foul his marker to win a ball. Known in the game as ‘a handful’.
Surprised Franco did as well as he did when he came on because if Sammon gets a shirt ahead of him, I’d imagine his confidence must be shot to bits.

You understand that we’ve had a football team since 1932.
If by your comment you mean that we didn’t have a decent team back then, then that is still no excuse. They and there fathers support united for one reason and one reason only! Because they are successful. They are no different than all the other non mancunian c**ts that inhabit old Trafford every other week. Glory hunting at its finest, the easy choice.
Said in context i.e. we did have a team but not a proper one, like one in the league even if it’s fourth division rather than a non-league tinpot team the town had until 1978 so they weren’t worth supporting. So kids support the team that’s top of the league at the time or support the team their dad makes them support.
Not sure what you mean about making excuses. I can’t be doing with the feckers. Surprised you didn’t glean that from my post.
All these people in their United shirts, watching every game on tele have no excuse now for not being able to get tickets.
United have been advertising on local radio for months now and even yesterday was load of empty seats.
Does my head in…
People are entitled to support who they like no matter where they are from. If they don’t support The Latics then that is their problem. They don’t half miss out on a roller coaster of emotion though.

Agree. You don’t know where they’re from or what the background is.
As I’ve said many times I was a Liverpool supporter (being born and raised in Liverpool gives a good enough reason I think) and for the first 10 years or so of his life my son, Wigan born and bred, was a Liverpool supporter. That could have carried on without any doubt – at what stage should he suddenly say “no, this isn’t my team”.
The fact however was that in practice we did change allegiance, more in the early stages because it was a damn sight easier to get to watch Latics than Liverpool that we started to watch Latics regularly. Even then – until Liverpool and Wigan’s universes collided there was no problem in “supporting” both.
You cannot blame people for continuing to support a team they have done all their lives – if some (like me) move across then good. Although there will then be those who call them bandwagon-jumpers and JCLs and make them feel less than welcome.
And as for what level Latics were at – for a long time Latics were in inferior divisions, even non-league. How many of you actually say “My team is Garswood United (or Whelley or Robin Park)?” Because that’s the same thing – you are now identifying a League team to support. That’s all these so-called “plastic Mancs” did, and continue to do.
It mattered little to me what league we were in,i went for the first time and was hooked.Ive had to listen to the scumbags for over 40 yr but i would rather nail my head to a tree than be a glory hunter.Ive been to Owd Trafford more than most of them anyway.Supporting Wigan Ath is a love affair one that will never end not being a fan “coz my dad and my mate supports them”
These are not supporters, anybody can buy a shirt and subscribe to sky or watch in the pub,a true supporter in my eyes is someone who has at the very least been to see 1 live match,i tip my hat to mr donnelly supports us and travels from ireland not every game but does come and his heart is all for wigan, these tossers cant even travel from wigan to manc land,REMEMBER YOUR TEAM PICKS YOU,YU DONT PICK YOUR TEAM
DONNELLY FOR YOU MATE goodpost goodpost goodpost

But he doesn’t support his local team – he’s glory-hunted a Premier League team.
Hasn’t he? That’s the logic everyone is using here.

If thats the point been made i have understood it wrong,i thought it was about anybody that says i am a manc, liverpool, everton, ect, ect that has never been to any of there games but could support there own team but wont because they have not got the bollox to go in work and say i support wigan
There’s something particularly obnoxious about these so called plastic Man United “fans”. Glory hunters they most definitely are because the majority of them have only ever known success. And I’m not too sure if it’s a father to son thing either. I’d guess that for most of them their fathers either don’t follow football or weren’t interested enough to ensure their kids shared the same allegiance as them.
You can declare to “armchair” Man City, Everton and even Liverpool fans that you support Wigan Athletic and you don’t suffer the same ridicule as that you get from the United lot.
If you know f**k all about football but need??? a team to support then jump on the Manchester United bandwagon. I despise them with a passion.
