It seems that they are bragging about selling out their entire allocation for Saturday’s big game against Saints.
Apparently, they’ve sold 12,000 from the stadium ticket office, and 8,000 through the RFL. But just how many of those 8,000 tickets have gone to bona-fide Wigan fans?
I think that truth be known, they’ve got a similar fanbase to ourselves, probably between 10 and 12,000. The attendances of both reflect upon this. I find the way they’ve sold tickets to be a bit bizarre. I’m assuming their allocation is 20,000. So why did the RFL have to sell 8,000 of them? Or is it not more a fact that you’ll get the fans from suchlikes as Huddersfield, Warrington, Bradford, etc going along for the day out? Come on, we all know the sport of RL is like that. Football is NOT like that, because it does NOT need to be like that.
A cup final is a smashing day out. When the Warriors go there, they will be taking 12, possibly 15,000 supporters at most.
But when WE went to a cup final, we took around THIRTY thousand fans. And yes….we’d like to go again.
They’re a thriving, successful, little club. They’ve signed a lot of quality juniors, and they’ve done almost everything right. But they’ve chosen the backyard of Premiership football to do it in. ;)

For some strange reason rugby fans always go to the finals regardless who is there. Ive known numerous Wigan fans to go to league & cup finals in the past few years and obvsiously the rents havent been involved.
So any tickets sold through the RFL for this final are not necessarily Wigan fans buying them. If they take less than 20k that’s just embarressing, especially considering the amount of people i know jumping on the bandwagon for this game.
How many Wigan fans do you think avidly follow both teams ? I reckon about 500 if that ! I know quite a few footy fans and only one is a ” Dual ” Also bar the ” Dual ” All the footy fans I know hate the Warriors with a passion !
Go to the final with the lads every year, good day on the ale. 12k sold at the club and 20k sold from the RFL, you specify your team when you order so they can advise the best area to sit with the same fans I guess. 32k in total, good following.
20k I could just about believe – 32k Warriors fans there is stretching things somewhat when you consider they only sold 6k (if my memory serves me right) for a challenge cup final at Murrayfield the other year (admittedly a bit further away than Old Trafford but still)
On the website I believe you can choose the section you want to sit in (Wigan or St Helens) but as fans from all the clubs in RL go for the day out choosing to sit in the Wigan or Saints section or indeed even cheering em on for the game doesn’t make you a Wigan or Saints fan so to claim there will be 32k Warriors fans there isn’t true
As a comparison if I got offered a ticket for an FA Cup Final & it was Aston Villa v Man City I’d want Villa to win & would cheer em on. Don’t make me a Villa fan just someone who dislikes City
I know many people going that don’t follow Rugby/. I was tempted to go but decided not to as I would rather spend time with the missus. I would have gone to cheer on ST helens and get p1ssed. I think many of them will not be Warriors supporters. I also know a few people like Parakeet on here that are going to the final and queued for tickets but do not go regularly to watch them.

hey up its the fishermans tale,i caught one and it was this bi g 32k leave the wine gums alone
I have 2 tickets to give away for Preston v Reading on Sat (dont ask)
Anyway rang a couple of Preston mates to see if they wanted them – to be informed no thanks as we are off to OLd Trafford on Sat
So lets be reasonable about this – it is what we have known for along time the Warriors support is from a wide geographical area which includes all points north of Wigan (Preston) and east (Bolton) to name but two
I agree with you on that for the past twenty years ive work around the northwest, and have known their fans from Fleetwood lancaster morcambe, liverpool bolton blackburn blackpool preston leyland and many more places,i will say that its not the case for Warrinton, and the mighty St Helens.

Tells you how many tickets they had in each section, do the maths yourself. I bought mine from the Rugby League and on the phone the message asked you was a Saints or Wigan fan so i put the phone down and booked them on the internet instead.
Didnt want to sit with either because i dont like Saints but if Wigan start singing the anti latics song, with a few Stella’s inside me there could be murder.
The rugby were sent an extra allocation of about 2,000 but is it worth getting frothy-mouthed over?? Honestly, if you lot claim to hate them as much as you do, ignore them and get on with your lives please
There’s 2 games going on this Saturday and I’m going to both but I do wonder about the actual home attendance at the DW this week, each to their own though as long as I’m there I’m not too fussed.
