    Wigan have had a week to recover from the trip to Wembley. Uwe must now pick the teams to play Reading at home and Burnley away. Reading, Brighton and Ipswich sit below Wigan on 64 points, so I’d say the Reading game is the more important.

    Uwe has a wider choice – Waghorn and Kiernan can play and Maloney, Caldwell and Espinoza return from injury. It’s hard to predict Uwe’s teams, and I don’t know why he preferred Carson to Al Habsi at Wembley. I assume Ramis is fit.

    For the Reading game, let’s go for something like;

    Al Habsi
    Perch Ramis Barnett Crainey
    Waghorn McArthur Gomez Beausejour
    Fortune Powell

    Some players deserve a rest, so for Burnley perhaps;

    Al Habsi
    Boyce Ramis Barnett Crainey
    Waghorn McEachran Collison Maloney
    McManaman Maynard

    That leaves just Blackpool, Birmingham and Blackburn.

    Just one striker – Waghorn – today, but perhaps the best movement we have seen all season. If we had a proper striker, the score might have been in double figures!

    Wigan pulled away from the chasing pack as Brighton and Blackburn drew, while Bournemouth lost too.

    Burnley are close to automatic promotion. filmoss – we’re 16 points behind them. We’re not going to catch them now.

    That leaves just Blackpool, Birmingham and Blackburn. Poor old Blackpool are close to relegation.
