So is all that Premier League, can’t play 24 hours before just bollox?
Just hope weather stays dry. I think if the last match had been definitely and not possibly critical then it might have been a different story. Must fancy a result at Blackburn.

Yes. The ruling states that the football clubs fixtures must take precedent which simply means that if Latics are told they’re playing at 6pm on a Tuesday then that is when they’ll play and any other events must be cancelled or re-arranged.
Some of the pap that people have been coming out with this week about this rule and that rule and he said this and that has been hilarious.
The Egg is absolutely right, it has been hilarious looking at all the gloating and laughing on both sites.
In reality, if Latics had a game at 3.00 p.m. next Saturday and the BBC wanted to show the rugby at 4.00 p.m., the BBC could be told to move it to 11.30 a.m. or 7.00 p.m. the same day if needed. As long as Latics’ game starts at 3.00 p.m. they fufil their agreement.
Too right, some of the stories spouted would make Roal Dalh envious.
The 24 hour “rule” will simply be a precautionary measure. No doubt had the weather forecast stated that it would be pi$$sing it down all Friday & Saturday, then the game would have had to be moved.
Suffice to say that it wouldn’t matter one iota to the media as to why the pitch may be deemed unplayable, they’d have a crucifix ready and waiting for The Warriors in the following days press.
Plus the consequences for Latics could be disastrous, Middlesbrough were deducted points in the past for not being able to fulfill a fixture due to the condition of the pitch. It could relegate us!!!!
Why have I read in WEP that Whealen had to give assurances to the premier league that the pitch would be suitable for the game the day after the rugby match then ?
Drove along Warrington Road near Sainsburys this morning and noticed the matrix sign showing a warning that there is a football match tomorrow, and to expect some delays.
No mention of the rugby game. ;)
All joking aside, and all rivalries aside, we should be proud as a town if we can get two 20,000+ crowds in the same weekend in a recession when the battle for the Premeirship title will be on TV all Sunday afternoon for the plastic Mancs to watch.
