After winning 3-0 away, Wigan play the return game against Wednesday tonight.

Burnley and Leicester seem to be pulling away at the top, but the next group of six seems to be getting tighter.

A win tonight will take Wigan above Brighton. And a win of 5-0 will take Wigan above Reading on goal difference and into the top six. But a 1-0 victory will be quite acceptable.

We can expect Rosler to make several changes, I’m sure, after the heroics of Sunday.

There’s a very busy run ahead, with midweek matches for five weeks running. Wigan play 11 games in 36 days, starting with Manchester City and ending with Arsenal.

There are only two midweeks remaining without a game, and Birmingham v Wigan has yet to be re-arranged.

I’m knackered just reading that. An Herculian task but it’d great to round it off with the cherry on the cake at Wembley :)

Another manager who played a big part in our great journey will be in the opposition dugout tonight.

The man with the magic hat – John Deehan.

“HE SCORES WHEN HE WANTS”

A scruffy 1-0 but it’s another win and another 3 points.

        We were fortunate though.

        Onwards and upwards !!

Fortunate arguably but I feel we just about deserved that win tonight despite a spirited show from a team well below us in class.
I thought we looked a bit jaded but the work rate is superb and nobody (including arsenal) will fancy playing us between now and the end of the season.
          Plays off here we come

Agreed. A case of winning ugly, but who cares… :cheer: That ref was watching a different game from us…

By next Tuesday we will have played 4 times in 9 days FFS. I’ll quite happily take 3 more ugly 1-0’s!

Win the games in hand we will be past Reading and Forest and will have QPR/Derby well in range. Burnley probably a step too far, but who knows given the number of games left, especially if we win there.

Uwe made seven changes from Sunday and switched to 4-3-3.

We didn’t make much progress in the first half as Wednesday industriously challenged every move. We managed three dangerous attacks down the left wing from Beausejour and MaClean. And then they got a penalty. It was like Sunday but in reverse. But Al Habsi redeemed himself with a great save.

The second half wasn’t much better until McManaman and Powell came on. Then we started making clear shooting chances. A goal seemed likely and arrived through the award of a penalty. Gomez obliged again.

Winning the two games in hand would see us in fifth place, hard on the heels of Derby and QPR.
