The guy is working with smallest budget in league, is very forward thinking unlike say bruce by being the driving force behind developing an academy and new training facilities, which will reap rewards and hopefully provide talent and ultimately income in the medium to long term. He is the face of the club, promotes it very well and genuinely cares about it unlike most journeymen characters that we could have had.
He ain’t perfect, if he was he’d be managing Real Madrid. The grass ain’t always greener and I for one will continue to support and back him. I think some need to calm down, we have lost one game, survival is very much in our own hands and we have a cup final to look forward to. Why do we always get easily beat when we lose a player then.

And each time he has pulled the team together to produce a better performance.
But he doesn’t come on as a goal scorer. He stabilises midfield and gives McCarthy more freedom. If he could score too when he comes on, then he would be a real super-sub.
If he has such an effect on the team as a substitute, then perhaps he should be in the starting eleven.
Goal scoring has been a problem all season, but it can be easily solved. All we need is a player who can take his chances – like Robin van Persie on a good day.

That’s easy to answer – we don’t.

Wiganblu42 – you’re right. Wigan have done better in the Cup this season but still struggled in the league. Perhaps the two are connected.
So many fans complained about the weak teams that Martinez turned out for the cup. But the team turned in a sensational display in the first half at Everton.
Now we know why Martinez made such modest efforts in the cups – he knew that it would be difficult to win games in two competitions.
It would be ironic if Wigan’s first appearance in the FA Cup Final was accompanied by relegation from the Premier League.
I’m hoping that Wigan can keep pace with Aston Villa and play for a place in the Premier League in the last game of the season again.
