A chance to reach the quester finals of the PPJ Trophy on Tuesday night, will the new COVID rules get this game on?
If so, how many are going to brave it with me at Ice Station Zebra?
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
31 December 2021 at 3:00 pm #194995Really think we should sacrifice the Cup competitions this season and play the under 23s and academy lads. Not expecting any help from the EFL with the backlog of League fixtures.

Its not within their gift. The start/end dates of each season are decided by the clubs in that division, just as the decision to curtail the 19/20 season was made by the 23 clubs in L1. This still rankles with the likes of Sunderland, Ipswich, Peterborough, who saw Wycombe & Fleetwood lead a campaign to curtail the season, yet then be happy to play in a promotion play-off once they’d come up with a formula to get them in the top 6. Similarly Tranmere got relegated as a result of the bottom group ganging up on them.
Without sounding too harsh, no club in the top 8 is going to support an extension that only benefits Wigan, and no club at the bottom will support an extension that only benefits Wimbledon. Most are not still in the FA Cup, so come 8 Jan, some will have played 26 games, some 25, some 24 and Wigan still on 21.
Perhaps its time for the ownership to decide whether to go on a cup run, win the EFL trophy, or concentrate on the league.

1 January 2022 at 12:44 pm #195003I’m going and very much looking forward to it. Hopefully Adeeko gets a start and Humphries finds his shooting boots.
I don’t think we’ve ever treated this competition as anything more than a training exercise for the fringe players, but I could see us actually getting to the final which would really give us a dilemma.
2 January 2022 at 11:36 am #195006I wonder if the lack of game time for the players means Leam will play the best team he’s got for these next 2 Cup games to give them a run out and some match fitness….

Probably better putting half the first team out against Oldham and if they come through unscathed, do the same with Blackburn. However lose a couple through injury at Oldham and I’d be sticking the kids out on the Saturday.
2 January 2022 at 3:20 pm #195019With the backlog in league fixtures I have got zero enthusiasm for either of the Cup competitions. If we win either or both of them it just gives us another headache in trying to cram the fixtures in. We have to prioritise the league and if that means playing a team full of academy lads in the Cups so be it.
4 January 2022 at 9:22 am #195023Fringe players and youth and if we go through its a Brucie Bonus. There’s too many Cups and their Formats need altering in light of Covid.
A group of 4 Papa Johns ? seriously, straight ko. Replays in all Cups should be scrapped, extra time then pens.5 January 2022 at 10:39 am #195033It was certainly worth braving the cold to watch a 6-0 win.
Was the strong line up a training exercise, or are we going full tilt for the treble?
