Not only will he do his best, but don’t you think he will make sure his players do their best also??

i dont doubt for one minute that martinez will do his best, the problem is
i dont think his best is good enough.this season will also be the first in the premiership, and as i think about it probably the last 10 years, when the club have not managed to win a manager of the month award and does anyone see that changing.

6 March 2010 at 12:17 pm #25425After my opinion going from one side to the other, rather like a swing ball, it has firmly landed on the side of “support Roberto” for a number of reasons. One being that there is nobody out there (other managers) who would be a better option.
I do think that given the chance, and support, he can build an exciting, young, side for us.
However, I do think that we may have to take a relegation on the chin before things turn around. He is having to undo the stupidity and whims of previous managers, notably Steve Bruce, and this isn’t something that will be turned around over night. He has to ship players out. Trouble is, some players are sat on fat wages, and have no desire to leave. (What exactly HAS been the point of Rachid Bouauzan, eh?)If, in turn, he can bring in some more like McCarthy and Moses, then we won’t go far wrong. I’m not sure what division we’ll be in when we get the team sorted as to how he wants, but I’m not bothered whether it is the Premiership, or the Championship. Actually, if push came to shove, I’d sooner have a decent, exciting team in the Championship, rather than a dull as dishwater, full of mercenaries and wasters team in the Premiership. I’m not sure I could endure a few more seasons of struggling at the bottom.

6 March 2010 at 11:34 pm #25544Why wouldn’t he do his best for Wigan? Every manager (more or less) will do their best :?
