What about Ken Cowap he owned an amusement arcade on the old Market square cant remember much about him except me and my mate were chatting to him in his arcade and when we said we were Latics fans he asked us to carry a couple of boxes to his Jaguar boot, when we opened the boot it was crammed with bank notes more money than Ive ever seen in my life litteraly thousands and thousands and thousands.

Seemed a nice bloke though lol

    .

Nice bloke or not, I’d have banged him out, swapped him for his cash in his boot, and emigrated.[/quote]

    Course you would

Now for me bill kenyon was the worst sold players and bought a huge house in haydock or was it garswood with the money

Now I may have this wrong, but I understood that Bill Kenyon had the house at the corner of Ashton Cross, opposite Ashton Golf Course.
It is now a facility owned by TRU and who run rehabilitation programmes for people suffering from acquired brain injuries (eg after an accident). There are a number of these facilities around and Ashton Cross is the last step in the programme, after the rehabilitation treatment then patients move there as a final step before going back into normal life.

Bill Kenyon was a director, and two Kenyons are currently directors, so it looks as though he has used his “huge house” as you call it for good purpose.

From a few yeaars back is this:

        You call Skem…. Lol

I’ve lived in Pem for 14 years and seen stuff go on around here that I never witnessed growing up in Skem. Think of the worst of Shameless. Bare in mind I grew up in the green and leafy posh end of the town, as opposed to the new town ‘Jerusalem’.

However, there’s a reason I chose not to live in Skem. Mainly, there’s chuff all to do there. There’s been many grand ideas about leisure developments and all that. But they all fall by the wayside. People went crazy with excitement a couple of years back when Marston opened up a fun pub near ‘The Asda’. That shows how lacking in things the town is. And if somebody wants to take their kids out to cinema, bowling, etc, where do they take them? Wigan. We have this on our doorstep. Can’t be bad. Multi cultural neighbours who we get on well with, it’s all good.

It’s like Las Vegas around here in comparison. 10 mins off Stadium too. And when they build the hotel and casino, I may even dust off the microphone and go for a a residency, a la Elvis at the International Hotel Las Vegas.

Good Times ahead, anyway you look. I just can’t help believin…and look at this glorious weather outside! Lord almighty, I feel my temperature rising….
