The Wakes in Hindley took some beating, on my only visit I went in the games room, there must of been 40 blokes in there drinking and all stopped talking turned around and stared at me and my mate as we walked in. The Slaughtered lamb had nowt on it, and the ale was shite!

25 December 2012 at 12:57 am #98615A dirty scruffy 1960s style pub near Bolton ( small town and minds imo)station before Blackburn game a few years back.It housed some of the biggest cocks I have ever had the misfortune to meet who mouthed off to all and sundry how “Wigan was in the pub”.
Carried on this facade until some of our more lively characters turned up and we watched their faces turn white as they realised this gobby act was going to get thim in big trouble.
Fortunately for them the OB turned up but the pub is easily the scruffiest and most unfriendly pub I have ever been in.25 December 2012 at 3:07 am #98620It housed some of the biggest goons rather than cocks before any of the wits get at me for that rick!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL!25 December 2012 at 4:23 am #98621The Flamingo [affectionately known as the flying ashtray] in Scholes was one to keep at arms length.
Funnily enough I’ve been in the very same building tonight for an Indian meal.
I took a Sunday night booking in there just cos it was up the road from me.I’d got through about 4 or 5 songs and two women started fighting. No plugging of hair it was proper thumps and kicks and nobody had the guts to break it up.
One of my old mates from Aspull, Dave Sculley was landlord, nuff said!
He’s the only person I’ve ever seen kick his way out of a Black Maria, having bin cuffed to the rail. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!27 December 2012 at 1:48 am #98680The most worrying thing about this thread is the Mrs says she has been for a pint in most of these pubs.
