1 September 2009 at 8:16 pm #7611This could be whelan saying to martinez, im not trusting you with anymore money, and if he does decide to let him go, a new manager will have money to spend, Lets face it i cant see whelan losing out on 40 mill next season if he can help it, no matter what he has said about not sacking martinez, He will sack him if the season continues to be a shambles, ill give him another 10 games, but being realistic the west ham game is massive, just my opinion,

The worst we’ve had for a long long time
1 September 2009 at 9:03 pm #7635i have said all along whelan as lost heart and ambition with the wigan public not getting behind the club ,but it does work both ways showing lack of ambition will keep people away ,only one way this is heading im sorry to say and you all know what it is .
1 September 2009 at 9:19 pm #7647I also feel people have lost heart in football, The wages the players get just for being average is madness.
1 September 2009 at 9:27 pm #7652have to say it for all the good whelan as done in the past ,its time for him to step to one side ,but the question then is who would be willing to buy the club least supported in the prem ,we really need somone with billions not just millions ,who can at least attempt too bring in real quality and then hope the wigan public would come to watch them.

When people like John Terry are getting contracts for £150,000 a week? They kick a ball about, then drive home in their £100,000 car (one of several) to their 4 million pound mansion, to be greeted in the hot jacuzzi by their wag.
Hard life, eh?
I can tell you now, as a kid I was football daft. Yet over the past 10 years, my interest has wavered. It’s gone so ridiculous now, I really do feel like I am close to walking away from the game. I mean, it’s not like it was. There was a time when the game was played, and was discussed afterwards, and that was that. Now the inquests go on and on. The bickering, politics, etc, go on and on. The managers moaning, the press dragging things out………..
and it’s a TARTS sport. No, it is. Bunch of tarts.
I know blokes who went watching Everton, from the 60’s, and they have canned it off. I also know a United fan who’s the same. And don’t even mention Latics fans.
2 September 2009 at 11:00 pm #7861Well I’m glad it’s not just me feeling that way then!
To be fair this isn’t really much to do with our current situation, been feeling like this for a few years. The Prem is now ridiculous – there are 12 clubs in it who may as well just not bother, the other 8 can scrap it out for the available Euro spots and no-one really cares who wins the title just finish in the top 4 is all that counts these days. For all the frustration with us selling our best players (a throwback to the pre-Whelan days for those that remember) what else are we supposed to do? We have to try and operate like a business, it’s the only way we can stay in existence. There is no way we could possibly break into the top 8 this season even if we’d kept everyone we’ve let go the last couple of years. Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Villa & Spurs have way too much money available for anyone else to compete and Everton are fortunate that they already have a good squad and top manager.
We are not going to be taken over by some foreign billionaire and, even if we did, with so many now in the game it’s still no guarantee of even getting into the Europa League. -
