Talking to guys at the ground after the match on Saturday, it seems expectations have shifted quite dramatically.
After a great performance against Sunderland, we then beat Rotherham. Fans that 2 weeks ago were very satisfied we had a team good enough to reach mid table mediocrity are now having a flight at us making the play-offs or even better.
My mind set is still firmly in the see where we are at New Year, if we are in the top half, why not re-evaluate then? But should we expect to make the play-offs?
We play Wycombe next with two wins to their name, then Charlton with just a draw from their opening 2….. I would take 4 points from them right now, but 2 wouldn’t be a disgrace.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
16 August 2021 at 5:57 pm #193333I agree Jay. Let’s see who else we bring in in the next couple of weeks, & as you say, let’s see where we are come January.
16 August 2021 at 6:36 pm #193334I think we’ll come on strong in the new year, until then if we can keep the leading pack in sight we’ll have done well.
I predict I’ll have no beer against Wycombe but about 5 before kick off at Charlton
16 August 2021 at 7:51 pm #193338Don’t usually look at the table until the end of October and then after the Christmas games, I think we’ll get better as the season goes on, it’s a tough start so might as well get these games out of the way, win our home games and try to pick points up away and we’ll be reet so four points from the next two games will do.
16 August 2021 at 7:56 pm #193339Wycombe are the masters of shithousery in this division. If they get ahead expect immediate timewasting, feigning injuries & arguing with officials at every opportunity.
Please beat them, and if you can hammer them, all the better.
16 August 2021 at 8:30 pm #193341Why does it matter to you Judas?
Sunderland will only bottle it again and then you’ll probably just change teams again.
16 August 2021 at 8:40 pm #193344I don’t think either Latics or Sunderland will need to worry about Wycombe by the end of the season, even if they beat us tomorrow.
17 August 2021 at 2:09 pm #193358Not be far away if you finish above Wycombe IMO

17 August 2021 at 11:45 pm #193365I thought we looked a good side for most of tonight, better than I’d expected. To state the obvious but it should have been 3 or 4 nil.
Darikwa at left back? Who knew?18 August 2021 at 7:45 am #193374I thought we looked a good side for most of tonight, better than I’d expected. To state the obvious but it should have been 3 or 4 nil.
Darikwa at left back? Who knew?I would say that was the only negative about last night – the fact that we should have been at least 3 – 0 up by half time. That being said, we are still a work in progress. And as I often say, I’m just glad in having a team to support. However, I did read last night somewhere that Leam expects to bring in 5 or 6 new signings by deadline day. Mainly in defence & midfield.
18 August 2021 at 8:34 am #193376We were lucky on Saturday but our luck was out last night.Should have won the game comfortably .If we can completely outplay one of the promotion favourites the signs look good for the rest of the season. This side will only get better as the season progresses . Let’s now see what we can do at Charlton.Up the tics!
18 August 2021 at 9:02 am #193379Great performance and Callum Lang man of the match.
Sucker punch at the end that we didn’t deserve but signs are very good we will do well this year. -
