So what’s the script with Charlie Wyke ?. There’s no mention of any injury and then he’s not named in the squad for Monday?.

As far as I’m aware Mahoney has made no announcement on him regarding his fitness and considering the current predicament were in and the total lack of goals you’d think he would be screaming from the roof tops to get him back in the starting 11 but it’s tumbleweed time.

Firstly, were all fully aware of the situation with Wyke but like Erickson he’s back to good health and past fit to play football so on that front considering his profession that health scare should be put to one side harsh as it may seem if there’s any doubt he couldn’t play or perform then he should hang his boots up and think about himself.

This isnt one fan having a moan over team selection regarding Wyke playing or not, this is 8k-10k+ fans week in week out all saying the same thing.

There’s no way on this planet Fletcher gets picked in the form he’s in without there been a contractual loan clause that makes him start every game or we have to pay Watford a fee and if there is a clause of some sort well done to those in our club who allowed it something that basically ties the hands of any manager.

I bring this subject up as I heard a rumour on the grapevine regarding Wyke but Im going to keep a lid on it till someone flips it open first.
I just hoping the rumour is bollox about Wyke and I prey he’s not going to take over Cousins’s role when he’s gone for the 2023-2024 season because if he is he’s going to fleece us (like Cousins) for 12 months and offer nothing Grant Holt 2.

As for Cousins?, I wouldn’t play him anymore, give Smith some experience because we’re gonna need him next year that’s if he’s still here.

So please any updates about Wyke would be great good or bad just to dampen any rumour whizzing around

And just as I typed we have a response from the manager which doesn’t mention injury or health scare therfore fueling the rumour I heard:-

“He’s had such an unthinkable, unique last 12-18 months, but prior to that he was an incredible striker in the box.

We have to be patient to get him back to that level, but unfortunately for now he’s not available.

“But obviously the very best of Charlie Wyke would be a massive asset for any team in this league.

All we can do is be patient and hope for the best.”

I have been baffled by his exclusion like a lot of other supporters as He is arguably the best choice striker the club has and is proven as a goal scorer.
Could he possibly ( and this is pure speculation Btw ) have an appearance clause in his deal which means money will be payable to his former club if he plays anymore games or scores a set number of goals ?
Some clubs do put clauses into transfer deals which is ridiculous for the player and the club but could be the reason for some exclusions that we all scratch our heads about.

Inspector Clouseau couldn’t get to the bottom of the cloak and dagger goings on at our club this season. Transparency, honesty are 2 words omitted from our powerbrokers vocabulary. Heard a story from a Burnley supporter at work last night about a club physio who’s left to set up his own business near Turf Moor and work part time at Burnley. Left because of the continued non payment of wages and each time it occurred he was notified by just a single text message ……ignorant pigs…….this is people’s livelihoods!!!…..So Wyke, Fletchers continued baffling selection…..The players ditched to loan clubs…..Scully and his invisibility cloak…..the whole F###### caboodle is proof time and time again this season being truthful is a skill set our owner ,directors simply don’t possess.!!!

In fairness were not here to know every dealing, contract, payment I get that but there are some very very strange ongoings with players that no fan understands.

If we had the players that are currently omitted from the starting 11 every match day (not including injured) whether it’s players out on loan or just overlooked then there’s probably a better team amongst them (if included) that could have possibly given us half a chance of stopping up.

Were a lost club who’s going to struggle for the next few years because the mess created will stink us out like a kipper in a rucksack.

Like I said, it’s sad to see us go down but in fairness it will let us clear the decks. We’ve got a fair few League One players on Championship money the wrong side of 30 who found the Championship very tough going.

One bonus at least the club have honoured last season’s season ticket prices so fair do’s goes out there.

And one last thing, let’s not forget our injury list especially defenders, it’s borderlining on the ridiculous.

A sign they’ve been over worked

You only touched the tip of the iceberg there Dereck.
Left out for tactical reasons then next Charlie is unavailable with no explanation. Keano new contract but he’s been on it months. An absolute shit show.

You got him on a free from Sunderland so there was no transfer fee. Also, I very much doubt there will be any appearance/goals triggers being activated considering he only scored a handful before his heart attack, and has barely featured or scored since then.

It’s more likely a confidence thing, where he doesn’t yet feel comfortable pushing his body to the extremes needed for professional football. Understandable in the circumstances but it can’t go on for ever and perhaps conversations are taking place about retirement and insurance payments.

I totally agree..would love to see him playing for us again but I for one don’t blame him if he calls it a day. The lads been through the mill after such a life changing health scare. So whateverhe decides I’ll support his decision and wish him a healthy future.

But would you call it a day on £10k a week for another year ? I know I wouldn’t. Like I said it was a rumour and it’s not the heart problem.

If it was then I’m sure he wouldn’t get insurance to play. If it was me I would simply say nope that’s it I’ve earned enough it’s not worth dying for.
This problem I heard is self inflicted hence why there was no mention of his heart condition or injury was mentioned in the clubs last press release.
Legally terminating his contract will be the only way, if you can’t play for the foreseeable future then we’ll have good grounds to do so

This guy needs to go asap his we cannot afford him. Regardless of who’s fault it is or anyone saying “Would you go on £XX a week ??” pointless remark, pointing that blame finger is not what’s needed the guy needs to move on.

As a club were in deep deep crisis mode and any player on big wages has to go a.s.a.p so if it were me I would be telling him find another club as as your wages are dragging us to oblivion and if you don’t you could kill the club for good.

He’d have an argument if he was playing banging a few in but he’s not. He has other issues outside of football that are currently stopping him from playing (not heart related or injury) and he needs to leave because as it stands he’s taking (like Cousins did) and giving Jack sh1t back.

Do the honest thing Charlie and start looking round for another club, or a huge pay drop.

If you had around 50 years to live and the next 12 months would be the last chance you have of earning enough money to secure the next 5 years of your life would you walk away from the wage?

Agree but at least offer something back or go and do it at a club that can afford to pay him. You wouldn’t get away with it at work.

I don’t deny a footballers career is a short one so make it whole it last but just not at ours after what’s gone on, everything’s changed since he arrived weve been going under for months and people like him have turned into dead wieght anchors. Him and Cousins will be close on a million a year no wonder were in the sh1t.

As a club they should have sat down and sorted it out, he’s not injured and past fit to play with a pace maker fitted but announced in press “Get well soon” ????
Explain that to your boss you can’t work but your fit to go. If it is his heart condition stopping him then FFS retire !!!! call it a day pal and the club should have sorted that

Take Blackpool away, he was in The Manchester having a drink before the final whistle. Not injured enough to quick tale it to go and grab a beer before the National came on
