1 December 2009 at 11:19 pm #14368Langley, Liddell, Lowey, DeZeuw, Warren Aspinall, Peter Atherton, Baines, the Duke … it’s a tough one, this.
I think I’d have to go for Michel Fatini, though (aka Tony Kelly).

Faz, that’s a good call. (Well, everybody’s is a good call, actually)
Lee Mc came to us as a centre-forward. My mate knew Lee from Motherwell, as he (my mate) is Ged Brannan’s cousin. He told me straight away “he’s a good player, but he doesn’t score that many goals”. This was proved to be the case, though when he did score, it was usually a match-winner, or an important one. He moved to a left-midfield spot, and was always handy to have as an extra attacking body in the box. His one failing was that he was all right foot. Shame. If he’d been two footed, I think a lot of top clubs would have been after him. He had the size, he had ability, he had the guts and determination……but he was always hampered playing out left, being all right foot. I’ve seen that he’s played centre-half at Rangers, as well. Truly, a versatile player.
2 December 2009 at 6:42 pm #14396Scott Green for me.
A great character. He used to beat two men, go on a great run, then spoon every pass into touch…..Also the only Latics player I saw get booked whilst warming up as a sub…I forget who it was against but the ball went into touch near him as he was warming up in the corner. Their outfield player didn’t like the way Greeny threw him the ball back, said summert, and the next thing Greeny gets to grips with him and ends up chucking him Judo stylee on the deck…..

3 December 2009 at 12:54 am #14411Never saw him miss a penalty unless someone can correct me on that.Correct – never missed.
Liddell would have to be mine as well I think, although Jonesy would run him very close.
5 December 2009 at 11:04 pm #14543i wana say more than one but it as be Andy Liddell for me, will never forget when he lobbed the keeper against notts county from summit like 20 odd yards on the turn think he got a double that day, gave his all every game….. legend
