With rumours circulating that wage bill being cut from 19m to 6m or at least trying to
And possible sale of one of the training grounds plus failed chippy
If this is true then it looks like it might be being done to reduce sale price of the club for someone with not much money to come and buy us the likes of lanegan who to be honest in footballing terms has little money to invest personally and only aim is to get his hands on the stadium for the wurriors
But it could also be said wage bill being cut will have to happen anyway in league one no matter who buys us
Anyway what is your thoughts of lanegan if he did get the latics and created a wigan football club both us and wurriors together under one roof
My main worry would be if it happend and eventually lanegan wanted to sell latics what would he be selling because he would own the stadium
And who would buy a football club with no stadium attached
Now i know its all IFs and might not happen but say it might what do you all think about this if it did ?

He may be part of a consortium, but he wont buy it himself. As you’ve said already, he doesnt have the funds available to fund the money pit that is professional football. He certainly doesnt have the funds to buy and maintain the stadium on a Superleague Clubs budget.

In terms of whether it would be good for WAFC, then I think any consortium or individual that is connected to the town would be a good move. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the Latics have been owned by local(ish) people since the non-league days, right up to the day DW flogged it to a bunch of overseas money laundering crooks.

I’d have no objection if he was involved in a party that took ownership of us, but we all know it would lead to yet more re-writing of history by the the egg shaped ones.

I quite like the idea of an umbrella Wigan sporting club that encompasses the important sports to the town, Latics, warriors, wasps, harriers etc, football, rugby, netball, all the key spectator and participation sports for all ages and genders. This as an umbrella supported by the council, and theN separate entities where there is a professional sport, sounds exciting. Priority is having a club to support, if you are young and only used to the last decade or so you may be in for a shock, if you are older (as I suspect a few on here are!) then you will have seen lowers levels before. Hopefully we survive and grow though.

Pollard isn’t my cup of tea but I’d sooner have him and/or a consortium lead by him than the current bunch of crooks or anyone associated with them.

Regardless of your feelings about them, no one could argue the Warriors have done well on and off the pitch under Pollard, in contrast to DW offering Hullking Stan Rovers an “incentive” to be relegated in their place FFS.

After today’s announcement, don’t think DW will be in a position to help us (hope I’m wrong there…), beggars can’t be choosers

Lenegan isn’t apparently in the 5 potential buyers so were safe.

We need someone loaded who has a dream and the ambition that we could return to the Premiership.
Its happened once before and looking at most of the teams in the Championship right now it’s possible. This season no teams blew me away exemption Brentford

Brentford deserve to go up far more than Fulham, plus it would wipe the smirk off Parker’s face :good:

He must be struggling keeping the Eggs afloat so can’t really see him being serious about a football club too and a stadium plus other facilities to maintain.
Worst thing wrong with it would be the way the press would report it with all their biased and uninformed rhetoric.

Forget the media. I’d be calling everyone rent boys and telling them to get out of our ground.

Pretty much what I do now at the rugby, but ay the football. ;-)
