Everyone is entitled to their opinion sure, but at the end of the day Fabio knows far more than any of us therefore everyone on here is wrong
Well that’s going to stop our problem of leaking goals
Japan and Mexico are as good as, if not arguably better than USA. They are definitely better than Slovenia & Algeria.
Yet with slightly under strength teams and us playing below par we have beaten both. Get through the group stage then lets concentrate on being at our peak then.
Don’t forget Spain only just beat Saudi Arabia in the 90th minute and Portugal drew at home to Carpe Verde Islands.
hurry down to the club shop today:lol:
“I knew from my first day at Wigan that I’d do a job for the club.”
Working for Junior Latics perhaps
Been a great servant but he’s a bit past it now surely
1932 you quoted fergy and capello rating him – if they do why does he only play for both england and united when there is no-one else.Because sure, there are better players. Id have him behind Lampard, Gerrard & Barry (and a fit Hargreaves). However with 2 of those not fit he should go as a backup based on what he can offer. His all round game isnt always perfect if he’s in a flat midfield 4 but when we change to 4-5-1 which we will do when were leading in games, he’ll be effective.
Agree with tickmon82 that King can also do a decent job coming on into that 5 man midfield, it just depends on the circumstances of the game to know which player would be more appropriate.
Yeah he’s up there with the best passers in the team…at passing it sideways. Fair play he’s a decent player, and yes he’s respected by all the big name manager’s that you mentioned but he’s still not better than the likes of Gerrard, Lampard and Barry, so he’s not going to start. My argument is that if were losing in a quarter final to a Germany or whatever he (Cole) could come on and find us a goal from somewhere, whearas in my humble opinion Carrick couldn’t. (Satchel face and Brandy face can do one) I like Fabio though. And on the flipside if were beating Germany in the quarter finals then Carrick would be ideal to bolster the midfield, make some tidy passes and play balls on the counter attack to Walcott/Lennon/Rooney etc.
I agree in that J Cole offers much more of an offensive threat but, and although a was a friendly, Carrick did come on at half time vs Egypt in March and changed the game from 0-1 to 3-1. A combination of him and Walcott coming off the bench late on could cause some damage (in my opinion)
Id like to find room for J Cole in the 23 but im torn between him and Adam Johnson.
If Barry is going to be fit do we really need Carrick to go, as he is cack and then we could take Joe Cole instead who is miles better and can play most positions in the midfield. He’s also more likely to score a goal or contribute with an assist. So on one hand we have Fabio Capello, Sir Alex and Harry Redknapp to name just 3 who rate Carrick, then we have you who doesn’t. Im finding it difficult to know who to believe.
If Joe Cole goes it will be to play on the left. He cannot adapt to centre midfield in a world cup and be expected to have an effect considering he’s never even really played there. Carrick doesn’t always shine like Gerrard or Lampard but he’s up there with the best passers in the team and having him in a 5 man midfield would work well.
dawson and king have been awsome this season -upson has been rubbish -carragagh has gone – terry has been shakey -and ferdinand has struggled with form and fitness ,dawson has to go surely ?Personally, yeah id take him. Although saying that Fabio knows more about them both than me, you or anyone on here.
the beginning of your sentence please. :D
I don’t post many with incorrect spelling…only typo’s. :D
Where did you go in Ireland?
I corrected the poor grammar for you.[/quote]
I think you need a life mate.
Its likely to be these 7 who miss out
Warnock
Parker
Bent
Dawson
SWP
J Cole
HuddlestoneUpson has featured a lot under Capello so personal opinion aside, i can see him being chosen.
Bent will miss out as he’s probably too similar to Defoe, where as the other strikers each offer something more unique.
Carrick should go but only really excels in a 5 man midfield.
Yeah, he was poor tonight but Fabio won’t judge him entirely from that.
Saying that, Warnock isn’t better so he’d be lucky to go.
We are playing against a decent team here, who have already played together 4 times this month. Consecutive games like that means a lot at international level.
Where as we are playing at a low tempo less than 100% to reduce the risk of injury especially with the condition of the Wembley pitch. We are also without some of our best players.
And we still have a comfortable lead.
There’s no guarantee’s we’ll win the world cup, but some people are not half negative.
