Very often find exactly the same words in match reports across a spread of papers. Quite often they use agency reports.
Very clever ;)
The Daily Mirror’s Monday report of this game was done by James Reynolds and was very detailed, like he was actually there but….he managed to come up with the same ratings as the other two papers mentioned and he had the crowd as 47,342  The Sun was Ian Gordon, btw, don’t know who was credited by the Mail.
Go on, explain that then or are you saying that newspapers sometimes tell white lies?
Boselli for me. He deserves a chance. There’s a really decent player in there somewhere. That finish where he scooped the ball over the keeper’s head in the cup showed that.
Di Santo is frustrating me more than ever. You can’t knock his enthusiasm and he does chase lost causes (twice headscratchingly unnecessarily on Saturday) but I noticed a couple of times that he actually slows some of our moves and play down with his showboating because he often forgets that the easy option is more often than not the best option. Kone is light years ahead of him on this front.
I can’t see what harm mixing it up a bit and trying something new will do other than once and for all show us whether Boselli really is any good or not.
It’s a shame about Camelot, you think the owners would have got round table and worked things out……
Sorry, I know it’s a little convoluted but it’s the best I could do
Paul Mariner apparently, a good few years ago.
Prawn and egg, without Marie Rose sauce though.
Tuna, cucumber and apple (not tuna mayo, just plain tuna).
Yum.
Top quality player. Skilful, strong, clever, fast, has the lot.
I’m dying to see Boselli given a go but I’m not sure who’d give way for it to happen. He’ll get a game on Tuesday though, I suppose.
That’s what happens when you are deprived of your football fix. Nerdy mode kicks in.Just trying to help the OP on a subject I know a little bit about.
And thanks for the advice Griff. I will be going out shortly.
Well seeing as you know a bit about surround systems, see if you can help me with this one – I’m on my second one (I’ve just upgraded to a Blu-Ray one) and on both systems the audio is out of sync with the picture and I mean well of of sync. I’ve had a look in settings and changed the limited things there are available but that hasn’t done the trick.
Any ideas?
At Southend you would be chief bog scrubber ;) :woohoo:This thread had promise :(
I wonder if the Arsenal & Spurs highest price tickets get you a say in team selection?
David Moyes is actually Bob from Rita, Sue & Bob Too.
Was determined not to watch it this year but got sucked in to the drama of yesterday. Brilliant fight back and some pretty emotional scenes.I’m intrigued as to why you would be determined not to watch it? Do you find the Ryder Cup offensive or something? I’m determined not to watch EastEnders tonight and I’m pretty sure I’ll see it through ;)
The last day was tremendous, genuine nail-biting, edge of the seat stuff. Balls of steel the lad Kaymer, and Garcia should be awarded a gold medal for coolness for the way he played those last two holes goodpost
Try telling that to someone with spiralitis.
I had one of them when I was little. Got it for Christmas, I think.
Not many on here old enough to know what you’re on about there ;)
I hate it when pundits, managers or players say ‘he’s went for the ball’.
He has went?
Had we got a draw out of the game today (the one that mattered) or better, won, you wouldn’t
have posted this. Not sure what your point is.John Doe summed the matter up perfectly, but I would add that had we (ie Latics) won then I would have posted the same message, but probably added something about the visitors well-earned victory etc etc.
And your perception of “the one that mattered” is open to debate.
Latics in reality never expected to get anything out of the game at Old Trafford – we hoped certainly, but no-one rational could have expected. For Ashton the possibility of another cup (vase) game was important to them financially. Unfortunately it didn’t happen. That doesn’t
make it unimportant.
Ashton aside, the thread title and opening gambit of your first post would lead people to believe you were talking about the Man United game. Your post inferred apathy towards the OT game, as in I’ll throw the towel in for this one because we’re going to get nothing anyway. To boot, and something specifically JohnDoe posted, it was £45 to get in. Seasoned away travellers would consider this only slightly irksome, as the bulk of away day costs are travelling, refreshments and a flutter. Seeing as OT is about 20 miles away, travelling costs are minimal and as far as morality regarding pouring money in to rich Americans pockets is concerned, yadda yadda.
Respect to you for supporting your other local team, I hope they go far in the competition.
0-0 at half-time was I think a good possibility for a positive result, but defensive frailties led to goals. Penalty shouts were to be expected from the home team and bench, and I think the visitors put up a strong performance.Mind you, at £2 to get in I couldn’t complain.
Did I mention I went to watch Ashton Town in the FA Vase? Really enjoyable – as I didn’t go to Old Trafford and pay exhorbitant amounts of money some may view me as not a real supporter. But I was at least supporting a local team. And frankly, I don’t care what anyone else thinks anyway.
Key moment for me today though was when one of the opposition (a team from Rotherham) was absolutely clattered by an Ashton player. Probably one of the hardest tackles I’ve seen in a long
time. Did he writhe around? Did he need treatment? No.He got up and the captain of his team shouted to the rest “come on, lads, let’s ****ing give them the same back”.
Had we got a draw out of the game today (the one that mattered) or better, won, you wouldn’t
have posted this. Not sure what your point is.So it would appear that Andy Murray’s major crime in life appears to be that he’s Scottish first and foremost (proudly and rightly so) and British second. A bit like us English in reverse. Oh, he lacks a bit of charisma too. Big deal.
Top player, top bloke (given half the chance). Filmoss’s analogy with Chris Martin makes no sense whatsoever and he obviously didn’t watch the match if he thought Murray won because Djokovic got cramp. Oh and the lemur’s comments have been less than refined on this thread. Maybe he should call himself crass_lemur.
