So there was City v Arsenal (4-2), top game of football with a bit of added spice (Adebayor etc). There was Spurs v United (1-3) another all action game. There were 5 goals at Pompey, 4 at Blackburn, 5 at Sunderland, 4 at Anfield, a last gasp winner at Stoke.

At our game, there was a scrappy goal (the only thing of note in a dour match).

How much time/space/punditry did our game deserve exactly?

            a) None of them are great.

            b) Oasis didn’t influence any of them.

I think the point I was making was that United may have made a mistake…

Erm, I’ve been posting on here as banjostring, I’m in the prediction league as banjostring and I posted on Rivals for about four years as banjostring. There’s only one of me and that’s banjostring. Unlike you of course, DavefromSkem, Stewie Griffin…

I’m not hiding behind a computer screen at all, just making some pertinent observations. You ain’t harming nobody though and like I said some of your bullturd talk can be quite amusing, only for the fact that you’re actually being serious.

Mercury Rev at Manchester Academy, 5th November 2008 – mindblowing.

                      Guillemots at Bradford St.George’s Hall, 18th November 2008 – a close second.

No I’m not a multi-poster but I believe Vat69 to be about your 20th pseudonym. I don’t know why you keep denying being ‘Dave’ either.

If I were you, I’d tone down some of the self-importance in your posts. Nobody cares about how much you can and (probably) can’t drink but I must admit I do find some of your bullkrap amusing at times.

have you been booked to appear DAVE ?

………..he is not answering loudmouth ! Can you imagine him and the other dave on a drink together ? Now that would be a sight , ” supped under the table ” comes to mind 8-)

Nope. Ex-Borderline Alcholic. Reached the point of necking a bottle of Southern Comfort BEFORE going the pub. Realised after that, that needed to address things as I was getting too bad. Laid off completely for 6 months. Don’t drink that much these days, but when I go out and have a major session, I can take my ale. In fact, I’m NOT a big ale drinker. I like my spirits, my vodka based drinks. Why get bloated as F*ck drinking the whale they try and portray as ale in our pubs?

Did some serious drinking from 14-20 years of age. Got served in pubs at 14 and was a regular by 16, lol![/quote]

Sorry, but can I ask you something?……Are you for real?

I’m no gloom and doom merchant but I must admit, I have a sinking feeling. We played far better than Tuesday night and 5 bout was a little harsh on us but it’s not hard to see why.

No matter what system a manager plays, he has to have the players to execute it. It’s ok playing passing and possession football but you have to have the players to do it. At this level, we haven’t. We’re pedestrian. Players receive a ball and the first thing they do is turn to their own goal. You watch the likes of Rooney. First touch, all important and normally towards the opposition goal, putting the other team on the back foot. There’s no zip, no pace, no gaps opening for us. There’s only N’Zogbia (arguably Scotland too, who at least has a sense of urgency) who can remotely run with the ball and credit to him for that at least.

I’m afraid Roberto is facing a much stiffer test than he bargained for and his scheming might be right but he doesn’t have the players to put it into practice. No signs of a true target man/goalscorer either.

Shame on those who booed Valencia, you just about managed to gee him up good style.

Jesus wept, do you all live in goldfish bowls or something? Truth is, rugby is and always has been number one sport in this town and is in temporary recess during our sojourn in the big league, like it or not.

The size and attitude of the crowd the other night reinforced that opinion. I don’t have a great amount of time for Dave Whelan, his views, his business ethics or his bulls**t but at least he can see reality and outside of the goldfish bowl when he states facts like ‘Wigan is a rugby town’, unlike your average ‘hardcore’ Latics fan and God forbid, there ain’t many true ones left.

Wigan Athletic’s existence in the big league is fragile. Top level Rugby League, minority sport that it is, has been in the town a century.

                              Facts are facts. Sheep.

Or what ever its name is. Fans boycot that stand till its name is given a latics hero name like Harry lyon, Jason Roberts, Graeme Jones. Get in the corner of the West stand. That name must be never uttered on the breath of a true blue.
Imagine Anfield with a Dixie Dean stand or Citehs council stadium having a George Best stand or the main enclosure at Old Trafford cricket ground being named The White Rose Enclosure. Imagine Paddys bar at Ibrox or the Union Flag Flying over Celtic Park (it should). What about the Tangerine Bar at Deepdale or an Alan Shearer stand at Turf Moor.
This could only happen at Latics. At a time when we are finally not the underdogs in our part of Lancashire. When we were the underdogs that vermin club would have gladly and arrogantly ground us in to the ground. Get out of that stand now and remember the insults and mockery. Never forget and let them know on any occasion that we are top dogs now.
Actually the Wigan cycling club stand has quite a nice ring to it.

                                Grow up.

He tried to do a quick long kick to Koumas last night. The problem was, the ball was in the air that long that the whole Wolves defence and midfield had got back and regrouped before it even came back down and then it had snow on.

He can’t kick it flat and he can’t kick it straight. He doesn’t react quick enough to situations, he can’t run and he’s indecisive. Apart from that he’s alright.
