PNE, they are a smashing little club, the problem is they have chosen to ply their trade in the backyard of premiership football, Wigan, Blackpool, Blackburn etc.

It’s probably best not to argue with the rugby hooligans any more, the yobs will probably assault you with a lunchbox or throw ale over you if you don’t agree with them.

It’s not a one off either, they’ve been acting up all season. They might not be the town’s top sporting attraction any more, but there’s one crown they’ve DEFINITELY taken.

Wigan Goon Squad beware, the Ellgren Elite have taken your manor

I see seven Wigan players played at U18 level France on Wednesday and by all accounts did their country and town proud in their 40 points to 16 victory

Three Wigan players will play tomorrow v France all from the famous Wigan St. Pats amateur club.

I can’t help but notice the lack of Wigan born players in the fussball World Cup.
And don’t argue about viewing figures, Britains got talent attracted millions of viewers, it doesn’t mean that what’s on view is good.

You really are not very bright are you? A billion people will watch the World Cup, but you say the viewing figure doesn’t mean it is good. I think a billion people may disagree with you on that point, for, if a billion people did not find it good, surely they would not watch it. Do you not realise that it is all down to your own personal preference, and that is why your personal preference is to watch the global sport that is Rugby League and not the minority sport of football?

Yes, there are many Wigan players who play international Rugby League, but considering the muddy well that Rugby League players are drawn from is so shallow, that’s hardly surprising is it? Others have already tried to highlight this on this particular thread, but you don’t understand it do you?

During formal education in Wigan (I presume you went to a school of some sort), football was not encouraged at most schools. Rugby League, athletics, swimming, smoking in toilets etc were, but not football. How do you expect kids to take up football if you don’t encourage it at that level? I played for both the rugby and football teams at school, but if games clashed, I was made fully aware of which choice was the correct one.

The Cheech to your Chong (aka Mutty) harps on about Wigan born players not playing for the club, or for England. Mutty, considering Sunderland is a purely football town, and has been for over a century, neither the Sunderland nor England team are swamped with Mackem lads are they? Wigan is a developing nation in the world of football having only entered the league in 1978 – in case you hadn’t noticed, and it will come ( at least a Wigan born player playing for the first team). If the team was full of Wigan lads, would they be in Premier League? I mean, the likes for Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Man City are full of homegrown lads who have come up through the ranks. There are lots of large towns in the UK where they have never had a player represent England, and in a lot of cases, have never had a team in the top tiers of football, let alone a local born player to play for them in those leagues.

Wigan is changing whether you like it or not. I personally quite like watching Rugby League. I also played it into my early twenties, and it is not a bad sport in general. It is, however, not football, and anti-football half-wits like you are the reason why it gets a bad name. I know some of the admin from the RL site that you post on, and they also like football. So, why do you refer to it as ‘fussball’? Is it an inferiority thing? Were you the fat lad at school, who had no coordination, and who was always last to be picked, or are you actually a German RL fan?

Wigan is not a rugby town, and it never has been. It’s a football town, like every other town and city in the UK, and Europe. A high proportion of people in Wigan have a favourite football team, and they will watch a football game if it on TV. The percentage of football fans in the town who also follow Rugby League is considerably less – otherwise your JJB stores (etc) would have a tiny football shirt section, and a larger section featuring a replica shirt from every Super League team.

If you want genuine football banter, please keep posting on this site. If you intend coming on here and posting anti-football rubbish, when football fans are immediately banned from your sites if they try to respond, you can go and sit in the ‘Sin Bin’ for a while, or I’d be happy to propose you get sent off for ‘flopping’ on your mates.
My daughter tries to blame my son for things when she wants to distract me from her misdemeanours. Replies about Mick Hogan are all well and good, but they dont answer the question posed:

I’ll make it a bit easier…Include the 2nd tier too.

How many Wigan-born players have represented England or Wigan Athletic in the premiership or League 1 in the last 10 years?

(Here’s a helping hand….People born in Leicester dont count).

I see an outstanding Wigan talent in Sam Tomkins scored four tries against the French tonight.
I also noted there were no Wigan youngsters in the England foosball team that failed to beat America.

Do they play foosbal in America, they really don’t care about it.

When did a Wigan born player last play for England at foosball?
I know Peggy Melling, but she was from Billinge.

How come we can produce Rugby players (both codes) athletes and swimmers or do they just swim up the Leeds Liverpool canal or run along the A58?

Makes me laugh how they have managed to turn the argument around from my original post about the amount of fans from outside wigan who support the chubbies
The best way to answer that is to ask LeytherMatt on RL fans. He works at the the ticket office.

Ask him the percentage of fans from outside the borough WN who have season tickets. I’m sure he will have the information, and as his user names suggests will in no way be biassed.
