      Hi Jason,

I like many others echo the sentiments of Horc so no need to repeat what he said.

My main gripe with your latest post is “much needed funds” asking fans to turn up early to spend their money, we have a billionaire owner and the manager is forced in to buying players on the cheap or dud loan signings.

If fans did succumb to your appeal and turn up early, spend more money etc where exactly would that extra money go or be spent on?  Would it be given to the manager towards transfer funds? This thread seems to be a Supporters Club promotion to me.

Not trying to be awkward or rude mate, just that questions need to be answered, since the takeover two and a half years ago the club has become a shambles, and by the way I am a member of Latics Speyk and post frequently, my views are slagged almost every other day but I keep going, get back on there Jason you are more than welcome.

Edit…Any updates on the Wall of Hope organised by a committee member of the SC?

Same sentiments as above, overpriced beer, food , long queues.

I’ve been saying for a while now that the club has gone downhill rapidly since this ownership came along, Danson saved us yes fair enough but that’s about it, no money spent on the stadium, piss poor communication and empty promises.

The hierarchy repeatedly say they are listening to the fans, I very much doubt it, in one ear and out the other, the club is in intensive care and that lot upstairs don’t seem to care, only us fans care.

Just a little more on the canal bridge fiasco, a guy that drinks in the Brickmakers has asked for Freedom of Information from Wigan Council, some good points raised that echo’s what I posted the other day.

I go across that bridge on matchdays, walks and bike rides that so called damage has been like that for months maybe over a year, the local authority haven’t picked up on this, so no regular inspections have taken place, that corrosion hasn’t happened overnight, my guess would be a member of the public has reported the state of the bridge.

Since the closure someone has been around the bridge taking photos and posting them on social media that is the only evidence we have up to now. I agree and reckon it’s all down to Policing costs and people are looking for excuses.

Important update on access to The Brick Community Stadium via Walmsley Bridge.

                • Important Update | Walmsley Bridge Closure
                • The closure affects Latics’ New Year’s Day home
                • fixture against Barnsley FC
                • The Walmsley Bridge closure will take place between 12pm and 6pm

Please be aware that Walmsley Bridge, which connects Springfield to the stadium across the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, will be closed for our New Year’s Day fixture against Barnsley FC 2026 between 12pm and 6pm.

This is an important interim and precautionary measure and is in the interests of public safety.

Stadium management and Wigan Council will be working together to find a long-term solution, but the closure will likely remain in place for a number of upcoming matches.

Wigan Athletic and The Brick Community Stadium fully appreciate that this will be an inconvenience to our supporters who use this route for their journey to and from the stadium on matchdays. It is important that supporters respect the closure, and we thank you for your patience, cooperation and understanding.

Please make alternative arrangements so you can get to the match in plenty of time.

Access to the stadium will be possible via Stadium Way and also from the Western routes around Robin Park and Loire Drive.

I reckon Loweys philosophy is what Mr B said let other teams worry about us rather than the other way around and he’ll install that into the players.

Maloney had the players scared of their own shadows half the time, it’s like comparing chalk and cheese, I fancy us for a 2-0 win on Saturday, we’ll be up for this one!

                        1. Good 3 pts……Just a worry against better opposition the conceding of so much possession may be dangerous. Saydee,Costelloe, Murray all look great buys . I personally would like to see Matt Smith slotted in ….30 yds further up field than Maloney played him. Think that would be a godsend for Costelloe. Hearing we have to unload a few before window shuts, fear J Smith could be a casualty. On to Rotherham……still nowhere near finished article but im enjoying it so much more than last season.

A little bit of business at Luton on Tuesday before Rotherham Mr B.

I reckon we’ll see more performances like the Northampton game than the Orient game this season, Lowey would have learned a lot from the players at Brisbane Road last Saturday.

That’s how football should be played, entertainment, goals and attacking threat that’s our DNA not the bilge served up the past two seasons, long may it continue!

                            Take a bow Ryan Lowe.

Lowey is now seeing what the fans saw last season and like us must be frustrated, at least he has the balls to go public and let us fans know his intentions and what he’s trying to do about it, not the mard arse approach that Maloney let the players get away with.

There are five or six that need shipping out that either aren’t good enough or unreliable, Mellish, Cody, Weir, Hungbo, M.Smith and Jonny Smith if he doesn’t start to be a bit more consistent.

                              Well done Lowey!

Affordable prices for working class Wigan folk, I don’t like the “competitive prices” bit, who are the club competing with?

If they are competing with local supermarkets then cans of beer should be around a pound a can, not £5 for a can of cider or Guinness.

Local supermarkets are selling cases of cans 10 for around £12, compete with them!
