Yes, we need to make better use of our academy set up.
I’d rather develop our own players that we can sell for profit, rather than develop other teams youngsters that give us no value unless they are exceptional players that can consistently perform at first team level. In recent years the only young loanee that fitted this bill was Reece James; and there are very few like him !

I’m sure that Ryan Lowe will have his shopping list out this morning. Just hope Danson gives him the support that gets us back to being a progressive team :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

You can’t argue with our defensive record of goals conceded. We are circa 5th best outside of the Premiership.
We know that we need strikers, and I’m sure that RL has got his wish list drawn up.
Then to back up the front men we desperately need a midfield general, in the mould of Graham Cavanagh.
Like you say CW, let’s hope Danson stumps up a reasonable transfer kitty.

Despite RL not setting the team on fire, I have enjoyed the games more so than the games under SM.
I think SM did a lot of damage to player’s confidence and didn’t allow them to showcase their real talents. Maybe that’s why Lang & Aasgaard jumped ship. When you listen RL’s interviews carefully, he states that he has given our players more freedom to make decisions and play progressively. Hence, it will take a little bit of time and persuasion to exploit this new freedom.
It’s a bit like the Indian elephant that’s been chained to the tree for years; then when you finally take the chain off, the elephant just stands there not knowing what to do.

For a 0-0 draw it actually felt like a win !

Good point CW; how can Maloney scout players that aren’t playing. That must take a special skill !

Second interesting point; I thought that last season we were on course for the play-offs, getting over the points deduction in quick fashion and then starting to climb the league. Then we took the foot off the gas until the final few games of the season. I suspected that Maloney had instructions from Danson

You are reading too much into the situation.
Chambers is one of his favourites (plus he’s a Scouser) and would be one of his first picks, if fit.
Sess has not played for weeks, so if he is fit I would imagine he would only get on as a late substitution.

Thought McHugh had a good game and showed intent, as did Carragher.
My Grandma could get past more players than Owen Dale and Jensen was parked in the garage for the night !

Anyway, I bet we beat Hollywood Wrexham :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Agree with you CW.
At least it felt like we’d been to a football match yesterday :good: :good: :good:

Okay, I’ll not get ahead of myself; but for once this season I am actually looking forward to going to the game today :yahoo:

Great first interview, now on Latics TV.

I feel energised for the first time this season :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Let’s hope he can take us where Knob End have never been :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Agree with you Cup Winners :good:
Still some happy clappers that can’t see that

in reply to: Relief for Shaun Maloney #205285

On one hand I can feel some sympathy for Shaun.
On the other hand he didn’t help his own cause, by adopting a defensive, possessive game plan for the majority of games. Even if the squad was not his first choice, he could have still explored with different tactics & styles to get the best out of the players. He didn’t even experiment in friendlies or Mickey Mouse cup games
We’ll never know the truth.

Trouble is Ryan Lowe has a reputation for a similar type of football as SM. On my way home from games I generally listen to Radio Lancashire and have a chuckle at the Nob End fans complaining about the boring style of football that he instilled into the team whilst he was in charge.
Sounds like frying pan to fire, to me

Looks like it’ll be Irongate (or whatever it’s fancy names is now) for us next season Lostock…

The mother in law lives 5 min walk away so no parking issues… B-)B-)

Well, it might come to that. It’ about a 20/25 min walk for me.

Anyway, do you believe the hype about selling 4,000 STs tom date ?
So basically a further 2,000 have signed up since the last deadline extension whilst the manure pile has just got deeper

Well if it comes to that; I reckon I could walk it in 20/25 mins.

Anyway, can’t believe the hype that we have sold 4,000 STs to date; especially since it was 2,000 at the last renewal extension and the manure pile has continued to get deeper
