Tonight will not be a night for the “Happy Clappers”.

The atmosphere will turn vitriolic if we produce another shambolic performance. There is more pressure, than ever before, facing GC and the team for this game. Can they handle it, or will they bottle it ?

We’ll need a miracle to win this Saturday; especially 23 hours before kick off. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

We need to get our act together quick, before a gap opens up and we have two tough games over the following week.

    Worrying times.

    Spot on Mr B.

Don’t forget to add serial gambler to the Clark Carlisle tag. :negative: :negative:

Bet he won’t show his face on Saturday.

At least with Mr Whelan you always knew what you were getting. I remember the day that they cleared the car park at Leicester city fo cr the arrival of Mr Whelan in his helicopter. On many occasions away, he would always approach the Latics fans before the match; thank us for turning out and ask about the quality of the away pies ! Proper CEO !

I have a beef about the car parking charges.

It basically went up to £7 last year ( I’m usually there just less than three hours). Compare with Robin park retail which is normally 3 hours free; other than match days. I live between Preston & Leyland, and fuel for my return journey is about £12.

I did travel to a couple of matches last season by train from Leyland or Preston, at an average price of £5.10 for a Saturday off peak return ticket. That’s great, but not so enticing on a wet & windy Tuesday night.

Alternatively, I can view games online; from freeview sites or pay for view (circa £15 per match).

So, if you do the maths it is becoming less attractive to actually get off your backside and attend the games. However, I have always preferred to attend as many matches as possible; ever since the Northern Premier days.

I discussed this with a club official last season, and made a suggestion that car parking should be free for ST holders; or at the very worst a nominal add on fee of £40. I don’t think this was taken seriously when I got a retort of “It’s nearly £11 at Leeds United. To which I replied: “we are not Leeds !”

If the club are serious about selling more STs, then they need to listen to the fans and consider these type of incentives to get fans to “buy in”. It’s not dancing girls at half time that pull the punters in; it a Value For Money day out that counts.

P.S I also mentioned the price of beer as well.

Good point at the end there, CW.

Brilliant post CW. That captures most everything that every true fan thinks.

Unfortunately I renewed my ST the day before Tickle departed. I genuinely feel this will be the last time for me if this doesn’t get resolved. Even though I’ve renewed, I won’t be attending all the games, just to sit in a down trodden atmosphere. It’s a crying shame, because me and my long-standing football buddies never felt this low in some of the tough season at Springy.

I did enjoy the Rangers trip, despite the result.

Not giving us good vibes this Danson fella.

in reply to: Team Photos #207292

I remember buying the team photos from the programme cabin at Springy. They were only in black & white and generally the size of a postcard. You could also get individual player photos; them lean over the paddock wall and pester them for an autograph. My first team photo was from the Gordon Milne era, when he was appointed Manager. Probably still got em all in my programme box in the attic. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

    Welcome back Ste.

Have you been in the wilderness ?

in reply to: Bettoni is off #207248

For Me, Bettonni was a two match wonder boy, and failed to impress since.

Also heard that he thinks the Latics is below his station; in which case good luck to him and off you pop !

I think they make the rules up as they go along.

How about Taylor’s penalty shout; their Goalkeeper basically took Taylor out by charging straight across his path. That would be a certain penalty in the Premier league; with or without VAR.

    Hope Stockport batter Stevenage.
