Dave Halliwell of Verve fame has pledged a tremendous prize, auctioned on Ebay, to help out the Emma Hoolin Appeal. Wigan Athletic fans donated over £7,000 on Saturday and the former Verve manager is hoping this auction will raise lots more for the fund.
A GROUP of top rock stars have joined in the amazing response to the Emma Hoolin Appeal.
Former Verve manager Dave Halliwell wanted to do something significant to show his support for the campaign to raise money for four-year-old Emma cancer treatment.
So he has set up an auction to win a day in the studio with Simon Jones and Peter Salisbury of The Verve as well as Jeff Wootton from the Gorillaz and Beady Eye in a bid to raise as much as possible to send Emma to the US for Treatment.
Dave, a close family friend of the Hoolins said: “Anybody who meets Emma can’t help but fall in love with her, she’s a terrific little girl which is why I wanted to do my bit for the cause.
“But I also have a four-year-old daughter of my own so Emma’s story really hit home and since learning about the brave youngster my daughter gets an extra squeeze before bed at night time.”
The eBay auction, which ends at 9pm on Wednesday, will give the winner the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend a day recording with the musicians to produce their own track.
All the money raised from the auction will pay for life-saving cancer treatment for Emma, from Whitley, who suffers from neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. She is being helped by the Neuroblastoma Children’s Cancer Alliance and has undergone eight months of intensive cancer treatment but now needs life-saving treatment only available in the US and will cost in excess of £210,000.
Jill Hoolin, Emma’s mum, said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to Simon Jones, Peter Salisbury and Jeff Wooton and all the other people who are generously giving their time, as well as music manager David Halliwell, who made this all happen.
“I hope bidding for this auction will be fierce – every pound raised will help pay for the treatment our little girl desperately needs.”
The winner could be a singer or songwriter, a musician or just someone who wants to experience being a rock star for the day.
Simon, who is himself a Wiganer, said: “Emma is a lovely little girl. We will do anything we can to help this cause.”
