All matches are crunch matches in this league, but with the unhappy Hammers languishing 5 points behind safety already, Wigan Athletic will want to capitalise on their low confidence and scramble themselves clear of the drop zone themselves.
Latics will want a turn of fortune that their performances deserve and with a game against bottom club West Ham we probably won’t get a better opportunity than this.
Gaining points here could well give us that spark that the referees and rough luck have denied us in recent weeks. We have certainly done well enough to be at least 10 points better off than what we have now, but that is all behind us now and we have to look to gain a point or three from Upton Park.
We will have to do it without the services of Hugo Rodallega (some say this could be opportunity Di Santo or Boselli need) and Antolin Alcaraz. Alcaraz was sent off for a harsh second yellow card at Old Trafford, the referee falling for a dive when there was daylight between the two players.
West Ham have piled the pressure on themselves even further this week as they slashed prices to fill the Stadium this week, branding it the ‘Save our Season’ game.
They have recorded only one win this season and are going to rush back the big girl’s blouse (Scott Parker) form injury to give a confidence boost to their team.
Latics will be able to play their game on Saturday and hopefully frustrate the hell out of a team that should have been thrown out of the Football League a few seasons ago, never mind get relegated. If we go there and perform, the crowd will get on the home sides backs very quickly and we will get something.
Ticket prices are just £20 and £1, so if you can get down there, the lads would love to have your support, the Supporters Club still have a few places left on the coach.
