Jacobs back in the squad and apparently Pilkington will come straight in.

11 January 2019 at 4:30 pm #175069Question is where is Pilkington going to play. Left wing I presume.
11 January 2019 at 4:47 pm #175070Villa will be another tough test but 1 we can rise too.No world beaters but shows the gulf in spending power when you can agree to spend 7 mill on a keeper. Pilkington in ,a start for Grigg and Jacobs on bench just need to show them 0 respect and be positive. No more good 1st 20 then submit for next 60 then rally last 10. Lack of left back still major issue but I’m going a 2-1 win.

11 January 2019 at 5:46 pm #175072Thankfully we won’t have to watch Jack Grealish going down like he’d been shot with a 12 bore as a player brushes past him.
If we stop the stupid mistakes in defence then we stand a chance. That said still think we’ll drop points again tomorrow.
12 January 2019 at 12:00 am #175080If we started with Grigg,Massey,Powell,Pilkington and Jacobs would we be more confident of a win?
Is there a formation to fit them all in?12 January 2019 at 1:55 am #175081If we started with Grigg,Massey,Powell,Pilkington and Jacobs would we be more confident of a win?
Is there a formation to fit them all in?No unless new mon can play left back.
12 January 2019 at 3:52 pm #175089Pilkington – he is glass, but it’ll be a pane that it’ll be either curtains or shutters for someone. He’ll be shattered if Jacobs isn’t in, but if Grigg isn’t there he’ll have to toughen up. The window is always ajar, for a win(dow). I hope someone can latch on to his crosses.
12 January 2019 at 6:37 pm #175091No start for Grigg again……disappointed myself!!
12 January 2019 at 9:07 pm #175093Great feeling for once ..Sat in car on way home. Immense performance to man.The difference in energy was there for all to see .Well done to every player and Mr Cook, that was a million miles away from the insipid efforts lately. Good debut from Pilkington and what a fantastic return for Jacobs. Let’s hope we’ve capped the haemorrhage now and put some distance between us and the trap door. Predicted 2-1 ,never saw 3-0….but nice cash return for once put dosh on at 2’s………again well done Wigan.
12 January 2019 at 9:43 pm #175094And that is why I love football, brilliant feeling. Really good performance, hard working and controlled. As for villa! Terrible performance, diving, in committed, and that new centre half must have wondered what had hit him when garner kept closing him down. Well done, nice Saturday evening for a change.
12 January 2019 at 10:17 pm #175101An about turn on the long ball, sideways and backwards passing and upping the tempo resulting in a great win.
Three more points for the taking and our first double at Sheffield next week.
Pilkington didn’t look bad and when he plays on the left with Cracker on the right with Powell in-between and Grigg up top we shall be seeing more days like today.12 January 2019 at 10:20 pm #175102Doesn’t it just make your weekend. Didn’t see this coming, great result and even better performance. None stop for 90mins. Villa couldn’t cope with our pressing.
The Grealish affect is rife in their team, cheating gets.
12 January 2019 at 10:23 pm #175103No, but we did have to watch McGinn taking on the mantle of Grealish AND spending most of the first half trying to get Morsy sent off as well!!!!
(in reply to your earlier post jimmyc)!
12 January 2019 at 10:26 pm #175104So which of the terrible terrible, not good enough and steering us towards relegation Cook signings impressed you most today? Windass and Garner were handfuls upfront, poor buy Pilkington looked impressive for a lad who hasn’t played in ages, Evans and Morsy (granted not a Cook signing) controlled midfield and the entire back 4 /5 of Cookies shocking buys had Abraham in their pockets. As for Roberts who is too old and not good enough at this level……well.
A well earned beer for Cook and his drinking pals.
