Never felt as low as a Latics supporter.
No ambition whatsoever in the club.
Teams we face in the next few weeks have all recruited positively. Plymouth, Huddersfield, Reading, Rotherham, Burton. Burton have signed the striker from Hemel Hempstead who have us such a tough time. How have we not took a punt?
We are an absolute shambles. I am so disappointed.
I will be amazed if that Fans Forum actually goes ahead. They are deluded if it does. Mind you, it’s Latics. They wouldn’t get away with it at any other club. I am really disillusioned with the club. Especially our recruitment and scouting team. Theyre useless.
Clubs a joke.
3 February 2026 at 12:47 am #206810What’s new ?.Who the F### does our scouting/recruitment? Loan FC sums us up perfectly. Some cock and bullshit story doing the rounds that we wanted a permanent deal but the medical is more extensive.so wouldn’thave got it done beforedeadline. …..Absolute bollocks…..we’ve had a month to sort this out……more like we couldn’t agree a fee….Brighton wanted more than our offer of £0……As you say lots of league 1 teams recruitment seems to be light years ahead of ours. Midfielder is softer than Frank Spencer and now that’s it till June when nearly 1/2 the squad will leg it. Ronan Hale was a target, the youth international from Villa and Benn Ward from accy……..all went to other clubs. Billionaire owner?…No one expects a Talall spending spree but surely a little transfer investment can go a long way in this league. I frankly find our future looks bleak….next season rebuilding again with the same results…..pay peanuts…get football monkeys.
11 February 2026 at 12:07 am #206880Need a miracle working jobby polisher after that shit show tonight. Good start…that was it…..How the f### was Saydee on in front of Taylor….Costelloe..huff n puff thats it…As usual no midfield…..cant defend …Even Tickle struggling…..at fault for 2nd……Squad is a mess…….cant see anything but league 2.
11 February 2026 at 12:10 am #206881Ps…..pay peanut’s.!!!!..Benn Ward our nearly signed from Accy never put a foot wrong for Reading. Loan fc now becoming an embarrassment.
11 February 2026 at 12:47 am #206882I agree with you. Some of our support is badly deluded. Not unti the supporters club coaches are picking up for Barnet and Grimsby away will some people realise how bad things are. Honest opinion as well? They may get even worse. This is a god awful squad and even one of the top coaches in world football would be scratching their heads. Never mind some lower league journeyman or a young manager who learned his trade playing Football Manager PC game. (Is this a bloody reality TV show experiment?l
I thought Tickles positioning was shocking, again.
That Hunt is shocking. but yet Sessegnon was in the U21s this afternoon, along with Asamoah. Why?
what has gone on with Kerr? Seems strange hes straight back in the side after Lowe has gone. Some strange things going on. Its shambolic.
Fact is simple. We ship goals for fun…and we dont score enough. When you do that, no matter if you are Premier League, Isthmian League, Kent County Premier, or Wigan Sunday League, you will only be at the wrong end of the table. Its not scientific, its just basic maths.
11 February 2026 at 5:50 am #206883Always the feeling watching the game last night that Reading were playing below themselves but still enough to come away with 3 points.
slightly more intent early on but again undone by dreadful defending and lightweight attacking and looking at the upcoming fixtures I really fear the worst now.
Not sure this bunch are up for the fight and I fear league 2 is a very real possibility now.
All the fast talk and spin we have had this season doesn’t hide the fact that this is a very very poor bunch of players , league 2 level at best.Loan FC with sticking plaster mentality on the pitch of the like we have not seen since the early 1990s.
Shit show of a club11 February 2026 at 8:38 am #206886I’m not here to slate or call but a few problems that stood out to me:
Saydee, rarely did he win his 1 on 1 duals, he was constantly going to ground and losing the ball.
I don’t know why he thinks he has to win it, shield it, then turn the man near the half way line, he over thinks his role.
He just needs to shield, lay, peel off move. A simple tap back or sideways then get moving would do.
He rarely holds then quickly lay it. I lost count how many times he got done and gave it away and he offers zero as a goal threat he’s never in a threatening position for me he has to be dropped, I’m sorry to say not he’s good enough.
Another thing, we never ever attack from the middle…never. everything goes wide at every opportunity. Matty Smith is shit scared of moving into that centre space then looking for a daisy cutter. He prefers to ping it out wide he always goes for the safe option.
Tickle, wtf is it with him not releasing the ball early say from a won corner. Reading played a 1 on 1 on the half way line and twice he rolled it out from the back. The one time he did Taylor had a half decent effort go wide.
It’s belt n braces football and if we’re to survive in this league it’s a simple case of believe in your ability
And
RISK & REWARD

Fully agree. I can’t see where we are going to pick points up from. The similarities with 1993 are very apparent. We have a caretaker boss in and a team full of has beens and never will bes. Absolutely no value in this squad. Even Tickle…be lucky to get a million for him now. And dont be deluded, its going to be a massive rebuild again and it could well be as a League 2 club. Theyve penny pinched and been frugal, and its gonna come back and bite us. If theyd thrown 3 million at it I think we could have signed maybe 5 players at around 500k apiece. That would have given us a backbone and almost guaranteed the play offs. But they didnt.. now theyre going to have to throw some money at it, at least 5 million…maybe more, because we will need about 15 players at least. We can’t do it with freebies and loans. Look where its got us? Absolute shitshow.
Make no mistake, we are in massive trouble here.
11 February 2026 at 9:12 am #206890Paid £350,000 for Costelloe, rising to £500,000 with add ons.
Proof that paying a lot of money doesn’t guarantee good players

On the other hand, we didnt pay it for Ward, Reading did.
And he bossed Saydee.
11 February 2026 at 8:39 pm #206893Every defender has bossed Saydee since the opening few games
11 February 2026 at 11:15 pm #206894I am in favour of Gary Caldwell coming back.
I think he will bring David Perkins with him.
I think its the best we can bring in.
Hell of a job for them though…
15 February 2026 at 5:29 pm #206911Speaking of no ambition !!!…Sat here in London…..spineless Cardiff esq team selection. F###### Moxon,Weir,Raphael,Hunt…..diabolical. Taylor completely isolated….not a Saydee fan but at least he’d have caused a bit of havoc and support Taylor. Smith on bench !!ffs….brings him on 4 down…This lot tame. Retire Barrow…..get shut of Whelan….complete clear out and that includes a lot the players. Yes we know we didn’t expect much but come on that 1st 30 was an embarrassment.
16 February 2026 at 8:03 am #206917I don’t disagree with any of that. I think we showed them far too much respect.
But then again, to stop them would mean we would have to get near them, and frankly for that first 30 minutes especially, we didn’t get anywhere near them. Arsenal are a class team and its hard to convey just how much better they are than us. They have players who, if they wanted to, could drop a football into a barrel on the centre spot from 40 or 50 yards away. Their vision and ability is THAT good. That team they played against us went to Inter Milan a few weeks back and won 3-1. I’m actually glad they went so strong against us. They tore us a new arsehole that first 30. I was directly inline with the finishing and have to say it was as good as you would expect. Their movement, pace and vision was frightening. We were fearing the worst and thought it could end up eight or even more. They slacked off in the second half and we improved slightly as well, I think, so it stayed at 4.
My thoughts to the Emirates? Nice stadium. But for a relatively modern stadium, the toilets were a joke. Queueing in and about 8 at a time could get in. Joke in such a modern ground.
Arsenal are clearly a very touristy club as well. No real atmosphere inside the stadium. Theyre a really good club, clearly. But being so touristy isn’t for me. We had a debate what’s best, Emirates, or Old Trafford? Old Trafford came out unanimously.
So, out of the cup and we now face 16 cup finals. I’m not sure where we will pick the points up from, but we need to. And fast.
My last thoughts….on London. Deary me, what a filthy, over busy and congested shithole. And to think I moan about traffic in Orrell and Pemberton! Give me up here, any day.
16 February 2026 at 9:33 am #206919For 55000 home support the noise was pitiful. More atmosphere in a vacuum flask.35000 core support then rest tourists and day trippers.Agree about London…..overpopulated turd den, about as welcoming as a mouth ulcer……I understand the huge gulf between us at present and Arsenal…..well anyone above 20th in league 1 to be fair, but if that was Whelans game plan then he needs moving on. Poor Taylor running round pointlessly chasing hoofs. No Smith(Unfathomable)….so no service at all for him. Saydee behind Taylor would have at least made the Arsenal backline work and given us an outlet. Moxon 6’2 and no steel, cant run forward and yet to see him tackle. Thank God he’s not available Saturday. Hunt ??…..If we’ve not equivalent or better in the academy then it’s worse than I thought. 5500 travelling at great expense even after all the s### we’ve had to endure since mid September and we were treated to what???? A pathetic 30 mins, set up by a zero ambition, panick stricken stand in coaching staff. Give it a go,set up to make them know they’re in a game…..yes we’ll more than likely still lose(You never know though do you Mr Watson,Grigg) but at least we would have gone down fighting, instead of Whelan,Barrow hoisting the white flag at 4:30…..
