I would be very miffed to see him go for only £3m
15 December 2009 at 12:06 am #15284He’s out of contract in summer.
£3m is bloody good money if he is showing no signs of signing a new contract.

I guess so yeah. He seems happy here at the moment though now he’s in the role he’s always wanted and is probably our vice captain.
15 December 2009 at 1:16 pm #15317I’d be sorry to see him go. Ok he should keep his gob shut sometimes, but his versatility adds a lot, usually gives 100% and was an excellent value for money signing – Jewell paid about £3m for him I think.
15 December 2009 at 1:19 pm #15319Lose him for nowt in 6 months or get 3 million now! Simples really!
15 December 2009 at 1:44 pm #15321If the reports are true , and that’s a big IF , and Woy Hodgson is after Scharner , then I’d be tempted to see if we could get Danny Murphy in exchange.
Murphy is perfect for our current style of play and he would also give us the experience and leadership that we so desperately need.
15 December 2009 at 7:52 pm #15347Murphy is injured, has been for a while and isn’t (and hasn’t been for a while) a starter at Fulham. If he’s not good enough for them he’s not good enough for us.
Probs wouldn’t wanna leave London anyway AND i’m sure he’ll be on a decent wage even at around 30ish.
Wouldn’t give us anything more than we’ve got apart from another has been who’s past his best.
I can think of many other players at Fulham I would rather have in part ex!

Murphy was captain, and a starter for every game until he was injured. Clearly he’s not good enough for them when he’s injured.
Why wouldn’t he want to move from London, given that he’s from Chester? I know that answer, but do you?
So, come on Hansen – which of their players – who might even consider coming to Wigan – would you choose?

Shhhh! ;)
16 December 2009 at 2:41 pm #15396Just read all the posts regarding Scharner and I agree that 3M for a player out of contract in the Summer is good money. But why are we going back to Swansea for another player? has Bob not bought enough shite from there?
Everything Whelan does and before I get crucified we owe him alot for having a club and being in the Prem reaks of doing it on the cheap. Bob was quoted as saying we don’t need to sell yet we are going to loose 2 of our better players. And we will replace them with a cheaper option and Big Dave will make a profit in the transfer window as he always has.
I have watched Wigan from Non league all the way to the Premiership but the way the club is run now is bollocks. We will never be the biggest club but keep selling our best players is not going to put bums on seats in fact our crowds are dropping every year. All the Whelan fans are going to have a field day with this I can hear them now we have to sell to survive our crowds are not big enough but running the club like this is never going to increase our fan base.

But why are we going back to Swansea for another player? has Bob not bought enough whale from there?Just because it says something in the Daily Star, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true. I see you choose to ignore the 3 south americans we were linked with in other papers?
Me, I ignore all the rumours until I see the player being paraded with his new shirt. Then, and only then, is the time to criticise.
As for Scharner, if he is showing any kinds of itchy feet then £3m is a great price.
16 December 2009 at 11:31 pm #15425Scharner is our best player by a country mile and yes 3 million might be a good price but what price our place in the Premier League?Sell our best players in january and i cannot see anything other than relegation im afraid.
