What he should do and what he shouldnt do etc but at the end of the day it is Whelan who has bakrolled us up into this horrible league and its been an interesting little trip.
Some may blame him for the lack of investment and spending etc but does anyone really think that Whelan has made owt out of this little trip. I doubt he as made much if any.
Remember we have the cheapest tickets in the league and cannot sell them, mainly due to many reasons so income is limited. We get a bomb for being in the league and have also made good money on transfers etc. BUT The overiding expense has been the players, The journey men, leaches and parasites disguised has players that have sucked the income from the club. These free loaders have allways had there huge chunk and never really delivered.
Thank goodness for Whelan or we would have been another Portsmouth except we wouldnt have had the sympathy that Pompey had. Did them and Hull ever pay their debts?

Well said Donny, it’s good to see there are others that appreciate whay DW has/is doing for us.
Like you say, it is the ridiculous wages that players demand that cause the problem, along with relatively low crowds/admittance charges.
The wage bill is slowly being cut, but it is a hard balancing act between investing in younger/cheaper players and hoping to survive without more experienced/expensive players.
Hopefully we will have enough in depth to see us through.
At the end of the day if it was not for DW we would not be fighting relegation from the Prem perhaps not even League 2 or Division 4 as i prefer to call it. I have grumbled about him to you Paul out side the brick. i guess that is more to do with his tall stories about P1.ssing on his hands to keep warm and he does like a soundbite does are chairman. You know Lee though paul and i told you how he did not renew his season ticket because of Whelen. the Football on offer is crap at the moment and we all say this and that but what else am i going to do on a saturday afternoon. if we are in the championship then so be it and i will still be there. the position we are in is a lot better then Maidstone Utd and were are they now?
or sorry was it a slip of the keyboard OK Whelan then…… you T1T HEAD ,,,,,,,,,, JOG ON BOZO…….or should that be a S instead a Z. you do catch my drift though dan’t you ha. IDIOT!
I can’t get my head around the likes of Lee.
How anyone who watched us in the dark ages doesn’t want to watch us now is beyond me.
I know we’re not great, but we’re definitely better than we were then. Aren’t we??
Ive questioned Dave Whelans running of the club for the past few seasons and his stubborn stance on the current management team but for christ sake lets have a reality check here. Without his backing
we would have been chucked out the league coz of the state of dear old Springy had we somehow found the money to continue to operate
we would not have won the div 4 title
we would not have won the auto windshields trophy
we would not have won the div 2 title with a landslide margin
we would not have won promotion from the championship at only the 2nd attempt
we would not have reached the Carling Cup final
we would have never have played in the Premier league beating Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and the likes
in all probability we would be back playing non-league football now coz thats how serious our plight was at the time instead of us going on one hell of a fairytale. We did all this because of Mr Whelan not despite him. He may not have the impact he had anymore but he deserves every Latics fans respect for giving us this dream we have all had.

Some peope need to live in the real world. I haven’t noticed a queue of oil rich arabs, far eastern businessmen and Russian oligarths outside the DW desperately trying to prise Latics out of Whelan’s hands. Without Whelan we would be playing the likes of Chorley and Skem, that’s if we had a team to watch. I you think you can do better why not get a few of your mates to chip in the odd £5 or £10 million each and but Latics off him?
