15 March 2011 at 1:46 am #62026I can’t get my head around the likes of Lee.
How anyone who watched us in the dark ages doesn’t want to watch us now is beyond me.
I know we’re not great, but we’re definitely better than we were then. Aren’t we??yes mate and he bit of his nose to spite his face and he as said heis getting one next year. are you lot going to Sunderland? were having a p.1ss up round NEWCASTLE? staying over 8-)

15 March 2011 at 2:17 am #62031Don’t think I’ll make the Sunderland trip Bob, money’s a bit tight at the moment and away trips were the first thing I had to give up.
Glad to hear Lee is getting a season ticket next year.

that’s ok Paul and the price of away games is silly any how. it will be about 28 quid each any way for us just for tickets i am guessing. that is are only away this season as it stands for the the stay over.i would love to know who these latics fans are who go to every game home and away? how much does that cost a season for them? the home and away brigade ? i have never missed a game for 40 years merchants :?

Plenty can both afford it and justify it. I used to be one of them, but sadly no longer. What’s it got to do with you who can afford to go to games and who can’t? ;)
15 March 2011 at 1:11 pm #62045sammy to be honest never had a problem with whelan
worked for him , had no probs there
at away games he used to come talking to us at the away end
no probs there
cant thank the guy enough for saving the club and appreciate what he has done
then we get in the prem ,and in 6 years gone from a proud fighting club,to a laughing stock, best players sold ,shyte brought in
a manager thats fekin clueless
could go on and on
but dont blame it on him running my dog down :angry-banghead:15 March 2011 at 10:19 pm #62065Bit Arsh.
16 March 2011 at 2:22 am #62074A laughing stock Bicky? Who says we are a laughing stock except some of the so called fans who post on here. As for a fighting club, well the “fighting” club which Jewel brought into the Prem almost got relegated the following season and quite frankly, apart from the season under Bruce, has always look relegation candidates, whether that was playing “fighting football” (however you define that) or something else; not that the football played Bruce was particularly interesting but hey, it was “fighting” football so that’s OK!
Of course the best players have been sold. How else do you try and balance the books when player’s wages constitute between 80% and 90% of the turnover and barely 12,000 home fans turn up on a consistent basis. As for signing “shyte”, we are who we are and attract the caliber of player that befits our status.
It is obvious Whelan is no longer prepared to bankroll or bankrupt the club trying to compete with the rest of the Premiership. He’s appointed a manager who shares his views on how the club needs to be restructured within the financial constraints in which it operates. Whether the current manager will remain in the long term remains to be seen but I’m pretty sure while Whelan is in charge the plan won’t change unless some Arab billionaire knocks on his door.
So give yourself a good shake, a reality check and get a decent pair of specs to bring the bigger picture clearer into view.16 March 2011 at 3:43 am #62075A laughing stock Bicky? The media have always been condescending towards us and had us down as relegation candidates every season we’ve been in the Prem. The general consensus seems to be that despite our failings we try to play good football.

SammyI agree that Wigan Athletic aren’t a laughing stock, and never have been from my experience. I’ve worked out of Manchester for the past eighteen years, and have spend considerable amounts of that time travelling around other parts of the country, and have rarely met anyone who anything but respect for what Wigan have achieved.
The only time you tend to find disparaging remarks about Wigan Athletic is with Wigan RL supporters and local Liverpool/Everton/MU/City supporters – and that’s what Bicky bases his opinion on.
Also, what Bicky will hate hearing is that Dave Whelan has a lot of respect with other clubs’ supporters.
