No way will we not get a buyer. Club have many assets including around 30 million pounds worth of players.
They may have been worth £30m last month, but now the vultures are circling, their value will have dropped by 30%. And with zero income, apart from the TV money and a bit of advertising revenue, whoever does buy the club will not only have to stump up £15m+ up front, but plug a huge black hole until crowds are allowed back, and thereafter still fund the club at its £7m+ a year loss making.
Any new owner will have to cut costs like never before. Its going to be like Austerity on Steroids, unless some random billionaire who doesn’t give a shit about his wealth any more comes along.
6 July 2020 at 1:29 pm #187680Better to have a club than no cub atoll all I’m hearing is rumour here rumour there with no concrete proof I’m pretty sure if their was a concrete story here the national press will have their far Eastern contacts on it as we all argue about how hard done by we’ve been so hopefully the stories will grow but I doubt it and the 12pts will stand at the end of the day we still need a buyer or we’re doomed.
You are spot on! Having a club to support is of far greater importance irrespective of what league we find ourselves in.

When will this humiliation end?No club, or be owned by Ian Lenagan?
7 July 2020 at 12:39 pm #187719No problem with it personally, but I’m curious as to who the other investors could be.
7 July 2020 at 12:41 pm #187720Read it carefully we wouldn’t be owned by lenegan. He can’t fund it on his own. He’s asking for local businesses to come forward to form a Wigan based partnership with both clubs under that as separate entities. That’s exactly what we need. Run by Wiganers. Got to be better than a poker playing conman.
7 July 2020 at 12:51 pm #187721The focus seems to be on everything being run by local people. That being the case I wonder if David Sharpe could be re-appointed as chairman?
7 July 2020 at 12:56 pm #187722Ainscough ?, I’m sure he’s been approached, not like he bout
7 July 2020 at 1:24 pm #187723IL is a great owner. He has completely turned around the fortunes of the rugby club both on and off the field.
He likes to have regular engagement with the fans and created a pre-season and end of season dinner for the club sponsors at which he is honest with his comments about both Wigan and the sport. He has regularly stated at these that the two clubs should work together and isn’t afraid to comment on how he is a Wigan Athletic fan simply because he is a proud Wiganer.
Looking at the way he operates at WRL he would look to run the club in the exact same way that Whelan did. Buy low and sell high. The academy players will get opportunities as well.
Who his investors are would be the issue, but given his business dealings in the past I’m pretty confident in his judgement.
Works for me.
7 July 2020 at 1:51 pm #187729As I posted elsewhere, is he genuine or will he be another Maurice Lindsay?
7 July 2020 at 5:14 pm #187734Comic strip in the guardian, can’t work out if it is a piss take or a way to be informative
7 July 2020 at 7:26 pm #187741There is now a statement out from the owners blaming Covid. I think this is a good thing as it would fit in the force majeur category for an appeal
