A Ramis, Alcaraz, Figueroa back 3 all season long would have kept us way away from relegation.
sorry we weren’t, the goals against column backs up my assertion (2 per game, with OR without …..[/quote]
We played exactly 3 games this season with Alcaraz and Ramis in the same team. Anybody’s opinion of how we would have played all season with them is obviously conjecture on anybody’s part. But to dismiss my opinion because we conceded 5 goals in those 3 games is quite clearly ridiculous. You’re welcome to disagree with me, and we would not have been significantly better with both players fit all year, but not on that basis.
I can’t see us winning any games at the moment – I hope I’m wrong I really do,but our luck has run out. I believe that Villa play Sunderland this weekend. We could well be 6 drift of Villa after this weekend.Better hope Sunderland win.
We also have an awful home record against Villa,we’ve only beaten them once and that was the first PL season.
Of course a result against Spurs may put a different slant on things. ;)

sorry, let me re-phrase that; what i meant to say was that we were not miles better WITH ramie – we were good for 2 gaols a game with him in the team – we went for some pretty soft goals too (pace, awareness, positional play, getting to grips with PL … lack of)
that kinda stopped when Alcaraz came into the team – how we’ve missed HIM this season and HOW we’re now going to miss him in the run-in
If we do end up getting relegated it will be down to the ridiculous unlucky streak of defender injuries.
.
I think there are a lot more factors contributing than that, and luck shouldn’t really come into it over a league season, a cup exit maybe, but blaming a relegation on bad luck is just hiding from the truth I’m afraid.

Glass half full, but i fear you may be right, i did say recently survival was dependent on kone and alcaraz remaining fit throughout the run-in
this i feel is THE weekend of all – Villa / Sunderland, Latics /Spurs
IF only black cats can win, then villa last 3 – canaries (a), chelski (h) and latics (a)
bale back / spurs flying, alcaraz out / caldwell back – big ask for latics.
if we fall 6 behind villa come monday next, then with alcaraz out, and intensive run in (every game a must-win) i fear the ask is too much.
MASSIVE WEEKEND ahead.
right now, i think we’d all take a last day showdown versus Villa – good record or not
now is not the time to be throwing the likes of Golobart in.
Oh I don’t know about that. He looked pretty good vs Hudersfield (wasn’t it?) and a damn site more solid than that flyweight Lopez. We took a punt on young Callum, and his youthful exuberance has shone through. Why not Roman’s? Got to be better than tortoise Caldwell and maybe even tired Scharner.
Lets have it right up until Alcaraz return and with the form Ali was showing how many times did bobby reshuffle the back 3 or 4 depending on what system played only recently with the settled back line have we looked anything like defending
