Don’t understand the problem here. Fills group of four paid for season tickets and are included in the gate every week whether he attends or not. It’s his business if he goes or not.
3 May 2017 at 7:59 pm #158628What a sad thread this is and it seems to show some of our fans, even long term ones, as being more than spoilt. I don’t think any club has given it’s supporters more value for money over the years than Wigan Athletic, but a crap season and you can’t see people for dust. Every team has lousy season, most teams have more lousy seasons than we do. Just man up you soft sods.Well said “The Otter”.
As i say, i seriously do not know what people expect from “little” wigan athletic. Yes! It has been a bad season, a sh1t season even. But IMO, this is when the club needs us the most.
3 May 2017 at 8:00 pm #158629I won’t be there for a dead rubber of a game. If it was 3pm on a Saturday I would but I only go for a few pre match pints now anyway and so the little un can support his local team. Seen it all, been Europe won the FA Cup etc I wouldn’t go half as much if it weren’t for him. Better football at Ashton Athletic. If you are one of the ones berating others for not going, I presume you’ll be at every pre-season friendly, cos that’s all this is.
I’m not having a go at Phil for staying away on Sunday, as it’s each to their own.
What I’m saying is that someone who chooses not to go for a proportion of the season because they are not being entertained is not what I’d class as a supporter – more a fan, spectator, customer or whatever.
So saying you are supporting a club by buying a season ticket but then not attending the games because the team’s performances are poor is not my definition of support.
Those who go when times are good or bad, thrown money into a bucket, attend fans’ forums etc – are what I’d class as supporters.
And we have lot of fans, but very few supporters.
I’d class myself as a supporter, but nowhere near the level of some of the those who post on here.
If I can go to a game, I’ll go. But I have other commitments that sometimes get in the way.
And for the record I’m not there on Sunday because my eldest lad has a cricket match.
3 May 2017 at 8:01 pm #158630I said it before fil on another thread in a slightly different way, but you sir are NOT a real fan/supporter.
And, what is it exactly you expect from a club like wigan athletic???
Well don’t know about Phil but I would expect them to at least hold their own and compete in this league and not the shambolic shite we’ve had to endure this season.I wouldn’t complain about us going down if we at least had a go at staying up.
I won’t be there on Sunday either – if its a nice day I’ll be doing me garden.
I guess that makes me a shit supporter as well.
I’ll live – and have a clear concience.
Enjoy it – if you can ……………[/quote]
In my book yes! As i said in my last post. This bad period is when the club needs us the most. Supporting a football club is for life not just for FA cups.
3 May 2017 at 8:16 pm #158631I can honestly say hand on heart that none of us have been entertained this season. It has been cr@p TBF. I would love to go to games every week, but can’t due to work. I’m going sunday as it will be my first game in a month. I go to watch my team whenever i get the chance. No matter how exciting or dross the football is, i can’t wait to get to the stadium to see MY team – a team who next season i will have been supporting for 40 years.
Get behind your team through good times & bad.
3 May 2017 at 9:34 pm #158632What time at yours then HORC; or should I go to the motorcycle sprint at Hoghton Towers ?
4 May 2017 at 12:55 am #158636What time at yours then HORC; or should I go to the motorcycle sprint at Hoghton Towers ?The Motorcycle sprint sounds tempting, but I think I’ll give the Latics one last chance on Sunday, If they don’t perform to a better standard this week, it’ll be a few months before they get my patronage again.
4 May 2017 at 2:43 am #158640Just to confirm, I WILL be there on Sunday God willing…
And next season
For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer….
4 May 2017 at 2:59 am #158641Are you going Monday neet for the under 18s final Horc?

There is no reason to come on here telling everyone that you are not going and trying to justify why you are not going.
I don’t come on here saying I’m not buying a Latics top due to the cost, cos nobody gives a shiny shyte and that’s my decision.
This debate can end now, if you don’t want to watch the game saturday or refuse to watch them next season if Caldwell or Rosler are appointed then just do it.
We have better, more important topics to talk about than whether filmoss and his crew are going or not going to a fekin match. From Matlock to ManU

And here’s me thinking you were a super fan, shame on you for not buying the club’s merchandise!
4 May 2017 at 3:00 pm #158653Whats a superfan?

Anyone who stays past 80 minutes and goes to the game when it’s less than entertaining.

A fan who virtually goes to every game home and away. Never complains when the board make schoolboy errors that send the club down ( Twice in 3 seasons! ) and will sit through any old drudgery and accept it as the norm because they are still living in the past and deep down hanker for basement football!
