I’m out working in Palestine and unfortunately, not for want of trying, I’m unable to make it to the semi :( *tears of devastation run down the face*. Tis a calculated risk on the basis that just four weeks later another expensive trip to Wembley is on the cards so I’ll just celebrate a potential semi win with all these holy folk.
Anyway I heard there was a member on here who also works out in the region and was wondering if anyone knew who it was… and as an alternative meet up to paint a bar blue and white out here on Saturday.

Every little helps.

11 April 2013 at 5:17 am #108729sorry to change the subject for a sec
but I’ve a serious question for themisrablejocMe and a mate have the oportunity to go to Palestine for a few days
but we keep reading about shootings and such like, we’re pretty clued up about the troubles etc. cos of the latest shootings we keep delaying our decision. As a man on the ground so to speak, whats your opinion,
(Ramalla and Hebron amongst others)
Ta11 April 2013 at 1:03 pm #108750It’s safer than walking round Platt bridge!
In all seriousness there are a lot of news reports that misrepresent the situation. A lot of them to do with our pro-Israeli outlets and governance. However the country is beautiful and there is so much to gain from a direct experience in terms of understanding the conflict further. Hebron was tense last week and is one of a few hotspots that flare up on a weekly basis, but it is relatively safe most days. Just avoid it during an escalation in violence which to be honest will only last a Cpl of days. Friday afternoons are best avoided most places but with the right contacts you can experience the struggle at Friday demonstrations in safety around the west bank. Even if you don’t come for all that the place is great, steeped in history and the obvious challenges of occupation.
I’m out here for a while longer and if you want to come,, I live in Ramallah and would be more than happy to help you both out and point you in the right directions once you’re out here.
Just avoid weekend of 11th May :)
12 April 2013 at 12:14 am #108882Thanks for that we were looking at the 16th for 4 days but I think we’ve missed that trip. I’ll post something on here if we do go on the next one.
but I don’t know when that is yet. Its an organised trip with visits to both Palestinian and israeli settlements and also an afternoon (I think) of peaceful protest. Hopefully I’ll be contacting you in a moth or two. Thanks again.
Now if others want to carry on with the original topic, they may

There’s a lad who works in Doha for Al Jazeera, but not sure if he’s on this board and it’s probably a bit too far for you both to meet up!

You do know that Doha and Palestine are a LONG way apart.
