Personally I think we have one of the best set of fans in the prem, UTD can get 76’000 on and you can hear a pin drop and that’s when they’re winning,
Who’s biased ?
10 September 2009 at 9:20 pm #8472Attendances don’t concern me, I’m on about actual support from the fans at the stadium. Wimbledon fans made some noise and I remember playing Tranmere, Crewe, Nob End, Blackpool etc, we made a racket. But recently, the excitment, atmosphere, expectation etc has gone and we are quite frankly sad as muck. I’ve never been to a Premiership ground where the fans are as bad as us, just one question and this will answer wether we are indeed the worst set of fans to grace Englands top flight:
When was the last time you heard chanting of ‘Wigan, Wigan…’ or the chanting of ‘We Love You Wigan?’ If it was in the last 12 months, were not the worst. Awaiting responses. It seams to me you are a little bit uneducated with regard to Latics fans, but I am here to help. We love our club, so when things are looking bleak it affects the fans. Were not like other clubs by way of turning up just for a good day out, we turn up because were desperate to see the club were all so proud of put up a good fight. When that doesnt happen, the fans become dejected and I for one am proud that after a match which we were poor I go home and feel like sh*t for the weekend.
We have seen so much success over the last few years, we are desperate for that to continue. Interesting you mentioning about the worst premiership fans though, so I have been doing a little investigating and have left some attachments for you to look at. Rather than the worst fans, to me these guys look 100% the best. Tell me if you think theyre any good or you think the support is poor –

Hey, good spot.
Sorry, in my haste to shut the tool up I got carried away. :?
Completely honest, started in 1976 but couldnt really remember as I was sat on my dads shoulders at the time. Used to get took to the sacred heart where my dad would have a few pints and i would sit there with a glass of pop. Loved the football, but at the time hated the pre match entertainment. ;)

10 September 2009 at 11:22 pm #8485Ain’t in my league? Willing to test it out mucker? How old are you, how long have you followed Latics, you got a season ticket, you go away, you got the latest strips etc. Willing to go head to head and we can meet and prove it. As for 7000 fans at Springfield, didn’t you go pre Dave Whelan? 2000 fans and still a better set of fans than now.
Over to you!Im 24 and been going since 93, I should crack my dad for not impregnating my mother earlier, i buy a home kit every year, (i love taking them abroad), i have a season ticket and have had ever since i was unable to sneak into Springy Park in my youth, I did go pre-whelan but only by a couple of years, i remember the attendances and as for going head to head, i must warn you i have a very extensive knowledge of global football and as far as head to head on intellect goes you have already been beaten.[/quote]
You are DEFINITELY not a ‘glory-hunter’, if you started in 1993, as we really were very, VERY, dire, at that time.

The two at home are supporters taunting opposing supporters (which is not getting behind the team), and the other two are away games (which are always a better atmosphere anyway) – one being the Carling Cup Semi, and the other being the must-win last game of the season versus Sheff U. If you can’t get decent support at these games, there’s something hopelessly wrong.
In my opinion, the Geordies are the worst fans ever in the Prem due to their ridiculously high expectations, and their ability to turn on their managers and players at the drop of a hat (Oversized, black and white hat). Although saying that, judging by some of the recent posts on here, and the boos that have been heard around the ground, we aren’t a million miles away.
If the level of greatness is based purely on singing, couldn’t we get a male-voice choir in for matches? Then we’d be the best by miles.
Oh, and in answer to other questions posted on this thread: 39, 1978 (but regularly from 1982 until 1987, then irregularly between then and 1993, then regularly again…) 6’3”, side of a barn door.
11 September 2009 at 4:54 am #8511That Arsenal cup match was awesome
11 September 2009 at 7:02 am #8517Well i can honestly say hand on heart that we probably are the worst fans of all time.
Why? because we just dont for my likings sing enough I stand in other grounds such as goodison park and the reebok stadium and the singing and atmosphere is far better than ours.
All some fans want to do is chat about the night out the day before or what they are doing next weekend! Come on lets get behind our Wigan guys they are our sunshine!!!
