Whilst I am not a great fan of Gomez, I have to say I was ashamed of the fans who applauded and jeered Gomez’s substitution. There is no excuse it.

2 January 2011 at 11:53 pm #54389What about the complete lack of effort that Gomez shows to get the ball back when he has given it away, is there any excuse for that? Its not the lack of talent but lack of heart that fans get angry with.
2 January 2011 at 11:55 pm #54390Most of them booed Gomez when he shyt out of a tackle but didn’t bother when anyone else did. Diame, for example.
Too easy a target, for people who don’t know any better
2 January 2011 at 11:57 pm #54391I think it may be that he shytes out of most tackles.
3 January 2011 at 12:06 am #54393If our defenders didn’t shyt out of tackles and weren’t averse to putting their foot through the ball every now and again, we’d be OK.
But you carry on blaming a reserve midfielder playing out of position if you think that’s the answer

sorry Griff but he is not good enough and he brings it on himself ,i didnt boo but im glad he went off he does not deserve to wear the shirt.
3 January 2011 at 12:27 am #54399At the risk of getting slated personally didnt think Gomez did too badly today, no worse than the rest of the midfield, unfortunately his performances since he arrived are pre-judging him and everyone expected him to do what Zog does today. He did look gutted too when he went off.
3 January 2011 at 12:44 am #54402gomez gutted?what about all our fans who are gutted after every game the man is probably on bout 10 grand a week surely that helps.if went off gutted at work i’d get sack!
3 January 2011 at 12:48 am #54404No. Sorry, but he’s too light-weight and bottles out of tackles unless he can win a free kick (which to be honest he does quite well). Has some technical ability, but he isn’t Lee Cattermole or Jimmy Bullard is he?
Whether he deserved the (loud) ironic applause at his substitution or not (and I’ll freely admit I was glad to see him go – assuaged (when has that word been used on this site?) by the knowledge that Roberto had also seen his inability to cope) he isn’t really up to it at this level.
3 January 2011 at 12:53 am #54406only time i seen him use his ability is when he’s warming up b4 game knocking um in left right an centre, thing is no keeper there.total garbage!
3 January 2011 at 12:56 am #54407only time i seen him use his ability is when he’s warming up b4 game knocking um in left right an centre, thing is no keeper there.total garbage!I remember a couple of free kicks going in during a game. He’s the best free kick taker in the squad, but isn’t good enough in general play.
To support the original poster however, I was ashamed of the morons clapping his substitution.
3 January 2011 at 1:06 am #54412Its just plain wrong to boo the players when there is zero benefit in it. The players give their best, it isn’t a lack of effort or commitment as in Gomez’s case, its just that the way he has been taught to play football is one completely different to someone like Lee Cattermole for instance.
Sure he was poor today, but he isn’t a winger so when you can’t beat a player for pace and have just Hugo to aim for in front of you it isn’t going to be easy.
I had no idea how we would break down any Premiership defence today with none of our offensive 4 having any sort of pace, i was hoping our manager had more of a solution. Unfortunately we just look incredibly predictable in everything we do.
3 January 2011 at 2:07 am #544251.5m championship player replaced by a 6m one with a ‘big reputation’. Nothing changed and both seem to me to be somewhat lacking, but it’s wrong to heckle your own however frustrated we are.
3 January 2011 at 2:09 am #54426pay the money, boo when there bad, cheer when they good.
why should the fans have to perform when the palyers dont.
boooooooooooooooooooooo
