Which is more home fans than turned up for the Wigan v Notts County FA Cup game.

Remind me of the scores in the two games?

Looking forward to seeing a packed visitors end at the Emirates tomorrow night….

How many Wigan RL fans would travel to London for a Monday night game and pay Arsenal prices for a ticket?

Seeing as two hundred travelled all the way to the south of France at 5 days’ notice for a televised play-off fixture a couple of years ago, I would say a Monday night trip to London would be quite well attended.

So 200 go to france and 4000 to a home game! WOW :pinch:

            #85258

I would say 95% of thugby fans would not pay prem prices, the game is taken seriously in 2 counties and that’s it so if the chance to go on a jolly to France comes along you’d expect a few to jump at it.

one thing the chubsters can’t get away from is when they dropped a division they could only manage a 4000 average, which is less than we got in our last season in the fourth tier of English football, so stick that in your pipe mutley!

So if so many travelled to France for a play-off game, why do so few turn up for play-off games at home (sub 6,000 on several occasions if I remember rightly)?

The reason for not attending these games has been cited as being financial.

Therefore, if you really think a mid-week trip to London would be well attended, you are clearly talking out of your aris.

To be honest Standish you all are. Why do you all persist with this bickering. None of you are right and what is the point of arguing over speculation. Im disappointed in Latics fans for taking the mickey out of a cup attendance though. Our record in that department has been embarrassing and is much more scrutinized by the media and other fans. Football is in the spotlight constantly but rugby isnt so it can get away with it. Why can’t you all just let each other support whoever they like and how they like. You can go on forever name calling against each other but there will never be a winner. You DO occasionally shout facts at each other like attendances and so on but even when they are used it’s more often like for like. The attendances are very similar so nobody can take the high ground.

I’m embarrassed for you all, For all the outsiders who read these boards it must be cringe worthy.

Far from being cringe-worthy Yosser, it’s rivalry, and every club does it.

Liverpool do it with Everton, United with City, Blackburn with Burnley etc. Unfortunately, our biggest rivals are a Rugby League team as there are no football teams – not even Bolton – who consider us worthy of their main focus of rivalry.

So, for a lot of people all this ‘you should support your town in whatever they do’ belief is b@llocks – otherwise Liverpudlians would support Liverpool and Everton and Mancunians would support City and United.

And, if this fool can’t realise that he’s throwing stones regarding attendances whilst sitting in a huge parochial greenhouse, then he’s more stupid than I give him credit for.

Oh I have no issue with the supporting whoever you like. Im a wiganer and have a love/hate relationship with my town but i would never support anyone else.

Why i say cringe worthy is because football rivalry should be just that, About football, We should be arguing with Bolton and Preston not a team in another sport, Thats just silly. Leeds fans i have met from both sides usually support both or if not have no animosity towards the other. Hull City are lucky because they already have two SL sides to fight it out. I don’t know the situation with Bradford and so on. Fair enough if you don’t like each other, so what. I can’t see why it can’t be confined to the pubs e.t.c why do i have to keep reading it on this message board. I have never seen it on any other from both sides. With the exception of wiganmon and a few others i suspect the majority of the board are in their 40s and 50s and can’t let the past go. Forget about the gay one and just let fans get on with it.

Bang on here fella. Wigan Warriors’ rivals are St Helens & Warrington, and rarely if ever do you see their message board even mention football, such is their lack of interest in football. Its sad that in such a footballing hotbed as the north west, the fans of Wigan Athletic cant find any football club’s fans that can be bothered to be their rivals, so they have to choose another sport.
