Egg, you are talking in facts, and whilst you are technically correct, you’ll get little support from the regulars on here, who “need” someone to hate.
Sadly, no other football club in the area cares about them enough to hate them – even the PNE board was cheering a Wigan win on Monday, as it sent “Bast**d Rovers” (their words) closer to the CCC.
Until the fans of another football club can change their ethos & culture to that of hating Wigan Athletic, we will be left with the status quo of the 1000 or so fans from the 90s hating Wigan RLFC another 3000 hating them for “some reason that they are not quite sure of”, and the rest not really bothered about rugby, or followers of both sports (like yourself).
(Congratulations on the win on Monday by the way – now dont F*** it up in the next 4 games!)

So what’s the reason for Wigan RL hating Wigan Athletic? I would say more of that bunch hate Latics than vice versa (probably more hate Latics than Saints). I give my answer as green eyed jealousy, it can be nowt else.
At least some of us at WAFC have a reason, just like I hate Bolton for a reason and Nob End for that matter.
Haven’t you learnt by now? Never ask mutty questions that don’t revolve around attendances. He has only on line of thinking. God he was even laughed off the chubbie.com message board for his claims that our attendances had only gone up because thousands of Man U fans had been buying tickets so they could get on the database before we played them.
When I was younger most rugby fans spoke in condescending, mickey taking terms about Latics. As we rose up the leagues those terms changed to little digs. Since we put them in the shadows it’s turned to bile, hatred and downright lying.
I can’t speak for all rugby fans obviously, as some that I know are sound people while some are total tossers, but the same can be said for our support. But I can say with some safety here that the reason mutty hates Latics is that they asked him to put his hand in his pocket when they were struggling and he had a hissy fit which has so far lasted about 20 years.

Well most of PNE support Wigan for half of their lives anyway, so why not extend it a bit?
A lot of things that the otter says is right having grown up in the era of small crowds at SP they were mickey taking terme that were spouted against the blue half of Wigan then as he said it got more and more towards hatred and that still exists
One poster on chubbie.com was having kittens as the tics was losing 2-0 to West Ham last season even going as far as to singing the West Ham song at the next rugby match
They cant stand what sucess we have had in recent years but are that thick that they dont realise what revenue the club bring to the area since the premiership years the rugby club put the town on the national map in the 80’s and 90’s through the bbc now the football club has took the town one step further by making the town known globally with international players gracing the DW stadium
