No offence but what a load of rubbish.

The point being, does continual booing and criticising players within the ground make a positive effect on the results, or would getting behind the team have a chance of raising the game of players?

Secondly, I agree people have the right to express their opinions on this site about the way forward and the rights and wrongs of managerial decisions etc. But for the love of Christ it is getting boring. And the fact people want to come on here and say I told you so, make people quite sad that they could live their lives waiting for such opportunities to say it. If you feel such passion about removing Martinez then organise a protest.

love it or hate it Whelan created the club that it is today, if he goes we could go under. Whether you like it or not Whelan and Martinez are a symbion link….. ok that was star wars episode 1….. one goes the other said he would follow. We have little choice.

And yes, I would love for us to sell Figgy, I would miss his cheeky smile, but for £8M I would take it. I just wouldnt criticise him before he kicks a ball.

I would like to see him play centre back once before he leaves. He looked half decent in that position in the world cup.

Apologies if I went off on one Edinburgh – a frustrating drive in to work where I twice had to run back & go home for somet was given steam in that little rant!!!
i think the “true Supporters” bit was the part that got my heckles up!!

I take your point to be honest regarding continuing booing & heckling but in my experience it is far less prevalent now than it has been in the past under numerous managers
My experience of it now is also that the players don’t get continually booed or heckled – however i think its a natural reaction of a football supporter to leap to his feet & shout some abuse when (for example) Figueroa is taking no notice of who is behind him, just stops when a ball is played over the top & allows Damien Duff a free run on goal. I doubt there are many in the land who’s reaction would be to jump to their feet clapping & shouting “unlucky Figs, chin up, we know you can do it”
Likewise when yet another pass is misplaced its unlikely that the natural reaction is to clap & shout “unlucky, better luck next time”
In current circumstances with this manager I doubt an atmosphere like Galatasaray’s old stadium would have a positive effect on results coz his system, style & tactics are all wrong for a club with the quality of players we have against the quality of opposition we face

As for people criticising getting boring with the same comments week after week – IMO blame the manager coz he’s the one making the same mistakes week after week. That’s what I’m finding boring
To be honest if i was able to get to the games as much as I used to I’d try & organise some form of anti-Martinez protest although i might try a different approach to the one I used with Jewell ;) but there seems to be a real apathy & acceptance of going down without a fight. The last game i went to was the truly awful Newcastle one on Jan 2nd – I sat in front of a group of people (some of whom I recognised from the Springfield Park era) who complained between themselves all game about numerous players (Stam was their principal whinge) & even at one point criticised Latics fans for not having the guts to express their opinions publicly on Bobby coz of Whelan’s threat to walk too. Come the final whistle they themselves didn’t do a tap

Personally i think Whelan’s rant was an attempt to call supports bluff. Even if it wasn’t he is now at the stage (if shareholders accept his share thingy to wipe out his historic debt) no longer putting up any of his money into the club so if he goes the club doesn’t go under as it is now only spending out what it gets in.
On top of that where is he going to go?? That is who does he think is going to buy the club off him?? If he runs it into the ground as a way at getting back at supporters who forced Bobby out then its hurting him financially not anybody else?

No worries, I have my rants every now and again Tyldsley.

I think most people agree things have to change if we want success at the club as no one cold be happy at the foot of the table. I just wish Martinez’s style would work week in week out, on its day it is great to watch, but when it fails to work it is awful.

The complaining I hear is usually from the off without kicking a ball. Gomez used to get the brunt of it till he was dropped.

Lastly for Whelan, it surprises me he has allowed us to get into the state where we are now, but I think financially he is trying to stabalise us for the future. Not sure if he was bluffing, but I suspect his ego wouldnt have liked the fans calling his judgement into question.

3 points against the Villa and all will be right in the world.

There was a young manager from Spain,
he would only play 4-5-1 each game,
      the fans had a fright,
      cos the system was sh!*e,
my god he’s gone and played it again.

Nice to see a light hearted approach to our plight :)

I was thinking more along the lines

There was a young manager from Spain,
Who was looked upon with disdain,
But there’s no need to worry,
Cos he’ll soon be off to Bury,
Only to be replaced by Kenny Swain.

Eh come on, it only took two minutes of thinking

As predicted earlier in the season, people wait to say I told you so about Martinez. Well I hope you feel happy that we are in this situation.

The rest of us, who I would call supporters of the club, are trying to get behind the manager and support what gets put out infront of us. We arent overlords for the footballing world who can change things instantly, all we can do to influence the game is what we say on the terraces/stands.

You know if I were Figgy, I would play cr*p every week and take the pay cheque every month. As when players step out on the field and are instantly criticised by their own fans, which could possibly be the people on this forum (The doom bringers), why would you bother.

Ge behind the team and go down with dignity or stay up in glory.

Theres a few on here who want to get behind the manager. Explains there rose tinted glasses as well.
