We all know we all follow not exactly the club with the greatest attendance’s and the media with their many underhand tricks have made sure the country knows that with the economical use of the truth and without comparison to demographics, economics, history and historic status etc. So I was wondering will we top the average attendance of 7,288 of which we achieved last time we played at level 3. Personally I would hope so and with the amazing value of season tickets this may be possible. However we have been on a slide and this affects peoples thinking and could lead to more fans paying on the day. That will mean paying in advance or queing which people don’t favour. A pay at the gate turnstile or two seems sensible at level 3. Another point is the pay on the day prices for some are above what many paid for Premier League games so this could put off fans who go to ten or fifteen games a season. For some of us we will just pay up anyway but to push crowds up we have to look at all areas. Perhaps the most important one is simply to get it right on the field and that is by winning games. I reckon 7,288 average could be bettered but it will be hard slog to do that.

31 July 2015 at 3:18 pm #143600That would be good. Fewer away fans this time too.
31 July 2015 at 3:34 pm #143601hmmmm tricky one I would expect to equal that total of 7288 depends on season ticket sales of course but out of 23 teams in this division only six teams are from dern serth
local derbies (teams we have not played in donkeys years ) Bradford ,Bury, Owdum ,Vale,Rochdale,
plus Blackpool
decent sized followings from Sheff Utd,Coventry I may acually agree with phylis
31 July 2015 at 3:56 pm #143602I just pray that we can get a few over 10k and be in the top half of the attendance table just to keep the media pricks away.
31 July 2015 at 4:10 pm #143603We probably only need to avereage 5K+ to be in the top half.
We should be in the top 5 or 6.Who will average more (last season in brackets)?
Sheff U (19,850), Bradford (13,353), Barnsley (9,768) Coventry (8,940 incl. Sixfields), Swindon (8,153)31 July 2015 at 4:31 pm #143604I would say for most games 10,000+ the midweek games could fall below 10,000
31 July 2015 at 5:01 pm #143606Hope you’re right Simm but that is very optimistic.
31 July 2015 at 9:00 pm #143612I’m going for 8500.plus.wer mutty he be creaming his pants with us on about attendances.
31 July 2015 at 9:18 pm #143618I think if we do well then around the 10k mark. If not, then about 7k.
31 July 2015 at 11:30 pm #143619I think that the legacy of reaching the Premier League and being FA Cup winners will be that our attendances will never be as low as they were before. I cannot see us going back to the 1200 of us who in the dark days pre DW were the only ones who bothered. We are a different club now with a much higher profile and attract far more interest. While we will never draw big crowds we will keep the core of the support we now have I’m sure and gates will reflect that. But the day I start worrying about our crowds will be the day I cease being a fan.
1 August 2015 at 2:49 am #143624I went to watch Ashton Athletic in a friendly last night, and a fellow Latics fan jokingly said “we might be playing back here one day”.
I doubt it – but if we were then so be it. I’ll be there.
1 August 2015 at 10:21 pm #143649with any player worth a few being sold off and replaced with inferior ones or youth players then we will be back in non league before you know it !
another relegation battle beckons in my opinion – rookies running the club and has beens and kids in the squad!?
But no it’s ” how great it is to go to burton aren’t we lucky?”
FFS we used to play on the same pitch as chelsea and arsenal and the legacy should be championship at least.
With little or no investment in the squad we are going nowhere and its a fecking disgrace but with so much apathy from our supporters the ridiculous policies will continue and we will struggle!1 August 2015 at 11:03 pm #143654with any player worth a few being sold off and replaced with inferior ones or youth players then we will be back in non league before you know it !

I believe that we have a great mixture of owd yeds and willing runners. If we can keep hold of the Everton loanees for a bit longer, the team I saw in the first half today looked quite impressive. There will be no Scottish international defenders in the teams we will play this season. Give um a chance FFS at least until we are 5 or 6 games into the season.
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!2 August 2015 at 12:47 am #143656I think to be fair to Gary Caldwell, he’ll be on a hiding to nothing unless he plays Grigg and Davies, that will give him his best chance.
To lose so many senior players and replace them all with only possibly 2 players at least as good, leaves too much to find find no matter what level were at. Too many changes all for the sake of this wage bill bollocks everybody is swallowing. How do you think we get to the Premier League? That’s right spending a few quid not getting Blackpool rejects in.
Just get used to watching lower league football again and losing that generation of support we were developing. Shameful really.
