Saw it very clearly on TV looks bad and I’m sure we haven’t heard the last of this-very lengthy ban in my view if proven to be deliberate.
fair play to the other Chelsea players checking the lad was ok-he’s only a kid for heavens sake!
So glad Swansea went through to what will probably be the most interesting and captivating cup final for decades.
Two things for me, Vince:
1, I think it was deliberate, but I believe he was genuinely trying to dislodge the ball. Doesn’t excuse it and he deserved the red and the 3-game ban but please, the comparisons with Cantona I am hearing this morning???
2, the “kid” is 17 years old. What the fuck is he doing ball-boying at that age?
The ‘kid’ is 18 I’ve heard, surely he can stick up for himself?? He’s not a ball boy, more of a ball man. Hazard himself is what? 19 or 20? Surely this ‘kid’ doesn’t need to cry when someone 2 years older than him kicks a ball from underneath him? He was crying as he left the pitch. He’s an embarrassment and I believe on twitter he want from having around 4,000 followers to 75,000 followers overnight. His last tweet stated he’d been asked to ball boy for the first time this season to help waste time!!! :woohoo:

I heard the ‘kid’ is really Rafa Benitez’s bastard son who was born with both male and female genitals…

No. You’re thinking of Torres.
My opinion of the incident is that when the ball nitially goes out of play the ball boy is deliberately trying to waste time as he is bending down “trying” to pick up the ball.
This clearly annoys Hazard who shoves himin the back. Not violently but with enough force that would knock most people over who are in that position.
Once he falls onto the ball the lad then wastes more time as he lies on it.
The kick from Hazard (IMHO) is designed to both get the ball AND kick the lad & he’s “successful” in that.
He’s rightly been sent off & regardless of the fact both have apologised to each other for their part in it, if the FA believe what I do then I feel he deserves a longer ban as, if he has meant to kick the lad & the ball, technically it is assault & in that sense is comparable to what Cantona did at Palace in the 90’s
Ball boys time waste all the time – I remember reading under Pardew in the away leg of the play offs, when they’d clearly been instructed not to even get the ball when it went out for a Latics throw whilst they were leggign it & wiping the ball down for Reading throws. Kevin Nicholls wouldn’t have been justified to walk up to one of them & boot him one
The incident actually reminded me of a game (I think) in Latics 3rd div championshp winning season.
Latics were away at Hartlepool & the game was a right snorefest until relatively late on when the ball ran out of play behind the goal in front of the away end & Gavin Johnson felt a photographer sat there was trying to deliberately prevent him from getting the ball so he shoved him over & booted all his camera gear – he got booked for it
Also I was never a ball boy but I did steward & I was once put on the perimeter wall where the entrance to the St Andrew’s stand was. It must have been in the 93/94 season & in injury time the score was 3-2 to Latics when the ball rolled out of play straight towards me. The Latics fans near me all shouted out me to kick it away but I thought I’d get sacked for that so I didn’t kick it to the onrushing Crewe player but just stood there & let it roll behind me. I moved out of the way to let him pick it up & Crewe went straight down the other end & scored – still gutted about it to this day & wish I’d just booted it away & over the Town End
Ball boys wasting time has gone on for decades. Kicking the ball boy isn’t the answer, though and the laws of physics say that’s exactly what he did. A ball girl at Blackburn a few years ago did exactly the opposite and returned it quickly to Liverpool, who went on to score seconds later. She was ripped for doing it.
A question to you all. ‘Tics are a few minutes away from a crucial win and the ball goes into the crowd when the team are desperately defending. Do you throw the ball back to the opposition quickly or do you take your time?
Any way you look at it, it actually WAS an assault on the, ahem, ‘kid’.
But like others have said, he was a bit too old and big to be a ball-boy. I suppose if he had stood up and belted Eden Hazard back, he would’ve been roundly condemned.
I suppose what happened just demonstrates a major ‘Hazard’ of a ballboys job….. :)
A 17 year old should be learning how to drink and chasing skirt, not being a ball boy. Mind you, today’s 17 year olds have the mentality of what we had when we were 12!
what about the ball boys at reading in the play off game, were told to give reading the ball back quickly and dick about when it was our throw, bastards, the gobshite last night got what he deserved
