I am truly taken aback at the responses on this thread. It’s as if people were dying for us to lose so they could jump on with their ‘told you so’ posts.

‘They could have scored four or five’ – yes maybe they could. That’s because they have very good players – much better than ours.

To put things into context, the transfer fees of Dzeko and Silva alone would buy the entire Wigan squad and pay their salaries for the season.

No we are not doing well enough this season, and that’s why we are bottom of the league, but the number of negative responses on this board after tonight’s game is disgraceful. Anything we got out of this game would have been a bonus.

Things were turned around at half time, and we looked a lot better in the second half – but get realistic, this was always going to be a game to get out of the way, and then concentrate on the next one.

Well said Standish, the next game is a must win and if we don’t I can’t wait to hear what your excuse will be for that one. We aren’t expected to beat City but Blackburn, Bolton Norwich the list goes on???

Loyalty is fine, but blind loyalty???

Would you not say that loyalty is getting behind the team and cheering them on I doubt that you do either

What exactly is wrong with bigging up our performance against world class players ?

We didn’t play like ourselves tonight we played with fear which stopped us being as good as we know we can be. Not my words Bob’s, even the manager thought we were shite so how exactly can you big up the performance???

Well thirty just shows how much you know, I do get behind the team and cheer them on and don’t boo or jeer which certainly doesn’t help. This is why I take out my frustrations on this sight after the game

We were beaten before we kicked a ball and then when they sat back and seemed happy with their goal lead( Badly defended free kick ) we didn’t create anything hardly ! To say Joe Hart was Man Of The Match is a piss take !! City are not the invincible team that the media build them up to be and from what I saw tonight I wouldn’t be surprised if they won fuck all this season !! Hey but we only got beat 1-0 so its ok ! If we get beat Sat we are def doomed ! I honestly cant see us winning another game at home this season either, such is my confidence that is as shot at as the players !!

                    #78444

replicate the first 21 games of the season up to tonight for the remaining 17 games and we are looking at achieving 27 points maximum.

if you go back over the last 38 games(a full season)to 15th jan 2011 when we played fulham at home we have amassed 36 points with a goal difference of -30 and that seems to be about average for staying up so that probably means we need to find an extra 9 points minimum from the projected total to give us any chance at all.

Excuse? F’cking excuse? Where’s the excuse?!!!!!!

We have just lost one nil to Manchester City. They are currently top of the league – that is, above Man Utd, above Chelsea, above Arsenal.

They can, and try to, buy any player they want no matter the cost.

They pay more to resurface their pitch than we do for our players.

so, it’s not an excuse, it’s reality. If we don’t play well, I say so.

Tonight, I thought we were okay considering who we were playing. If we played like that, and got the same result against (eg) Bolton, then no, we would not have played well.

Had the game finished 1-1 I know for a fact this board would have looked very different tonight.

Yes we need to win games – but did you honestly have this game down as a home win banker?

Standish we have played some absolute shite teams at home this season and won one game. Our season is not shaped by how we go on against Man City but by the likes of Bolton, Sunderland, Fulham all games we lost. We have QPR Saturday and can you honestly see us winning??? if we lose you will be on here with the usual Bob is great, get behind the team, things will come good, Bobs doing a great job, no money blah blah blah.

Admit it he is way out of his league and when we go down god only knows were we will end up if Whelan does not do the right thing.

Oh come on ..! Our forward threat is pathetic. Please tell me again how we could have beaten Liverpool, should have nailed Chelsea and should have won with all the possession we had against Sunderland. On the few occasions we did get a ball in the box we never have anyone who MAKES the ball his.I dont think City were at their best and i’m convinced some of our relegation rivals could have sneaked something against them. .If as Robbie says Rodallega is our talisman forward then adios Prem.

Couple of points to pick you up on Standish – specifically where you say anything we get out of the game would be a bonus and a game we should be looking to get out of the way.

                          My question would be why?

What happened to the ‘We did it 3 times’?

These teams are beatable we should be going out to get a result, get in their faces, put them under pressure – not giving up before we have kicked off and ‘getting the game out of the way’

There were 3 points there to play for and with a bit more passion we could have got something

Bottom line is we lost and need to move on to the next game. We are struggling this season badly and need to drag some wins from unexpected places, this wasn’t one of those games.

We have a lot of negatives around the defence, and bobby needs to sort this out. But what I have seen this season we do have fight in us and I cant ask much more than that.

Spend your time dissecting the tactics and criticising the manager, but it wont make a jot of difference. Only getting behind the team and enjoying things till the fat lady sings.
