2 February 2011 at 2:08 am #57826broke up play in midfiels are you sure you watched the same game :think:Yes I did. Poor corners, clumsy challenges one which led to a card ! and perhaps 3 passes which reached their intended target ! Free kick wasnt anything special but fortuitously it led to a goal ! On the whole he is not up to the task but on saying that, anything I say you will counter it because I actually believe you are a wind up ! I remember you from the old site and you havent changed ! There, I have outed you ! ;)

From a baggies fan
At times it looked like the confidence of our defence was completely shot. I thought Ben Watson was by far the best player on the park tonight
2 February 2011 at 11:01 am #57905A Man City fan I work with watched on the telly and said exactly the same s the baggies fan quoted above. Like the criticism of Gomez after the Bolton game, it seems some our fans can’t see past the scapegoat mantle that they’ve given to somebody.
2 February 2011 at 11:23 am #57908Ben Watson and Charkes N’Zogbia were the best players on the park last night.
The real criminals for me being Diame and Di Santo along with the majority of our defence.
2 February 2011 at 11:51 am #57913Have to agree – i thought Ben Watson (whilst not excatly setting the place on fire) was the best of the midfield trio last night.
That would have possibly gone to McCarthy if for whatever reason Bobby hadn’t hauled him off & replaced him with the completely ineffective Thomas. I also thought Diame was non-existant last night – some reward for McArthur’s good performances of late that Bobby ranks him behind Thomas, Diame & Watson but what do I knowAs for other players, i thought Di Santo was playing well up until about the hour mark when he just seemed to completely lose interest & i remember even N’Zogbia giving him a rollocking shortly before he was hauled off for an apparent lack of effort
N’Zogbia was superb in the first half but completely ineffective in the second (bar one run & shot)
Boyce got the complete run around from jerone Thomas in the second half – just how often did he have to show him inside & keep getting beat by him before he realised it was a bad idea
Figueroa looked good going forwad but poor defending
Gohouri – some good tackling/blocks but his distribution is akin to somet I see in the South Lancs Counties league on a Sunday morning
Caldwell’s – too slow at this level
Al Habsi – faultless
Rodallega – gets himself in to good positions but as someone else another thread has mentioned he seems to want to bust the net every time. His left leg is also next to useless2 February 2011 at 1:17 pm #57925Anonymous
Di Santo was playing well up to the 60 minute mark and did lose interest but can you blame him when he was running his clacks off and everbodys darling Hugo did feck all
2 February 2011 at 1:19 pm #57926I thought he had a great game. Some dead balls messed up a bit, but on the whole was our best midfielder. I’d play him further up with McArthy though – let Diame sit. Watsons got goals in him and we need more from midfield.

As usual, a fairly spot-on assessment IMO, Tyldesley.I thought Thomas was excellent and very dangerous in the second half and WBA in general upped their game – which they are allowed to do, of course. I think this was more the reason we were pinned back rather than having a death-wish mentality to defend a slender lead.
Good to see that Bobby seems to have ditched the playing out slowly from the keeper/back four at every single opportunity and we now also seem to be playing at a generally higher tempo.
2 February 2011 at 1:51 pm #57934For a moment Griff in your post I thought you went Hendry Thomas  but when I saw the words very dangerous and excellent I realised you meant Jerome Thomas. Injuries and tiredness played our hand really so we had to play more defensive with the players we brought on.
