Which are the best?
Which has the best pint?
Is the Anvil still a good pub for ‘real ale’ drinkers?
Do any STILL have cheaper prices? I flatly refuse to pay anything like £3 for a pint of Stella, Carling, or the other usual gassy sh*te. Is there anywhere that serves Staropramen, and such like on draft?
Cheers.

Is that a legal drink
4 September 2010 at 6:35 pm #45381Although not a good pub by any stretch, the Poacher in Winstanley still has £1.79 a pint as a standard. Offers are done with food as well.
FA Cup Winners 2013, sounds good that
10 September 2010 at 7:15 pm #45967Yeah
Anvil is still a good pub for real ale drinkers, and pretend ones to, and as Staropramen on draught (I’ve always found staropramen easier to spell than say)one of my favorite pubs int centre of town Is the John Bull,
although not a lover of thwaites, their daniels is pretty good. and deffo the best juke box IMO.10 September 2010 at 7:37 pm #45968Which are the best?Which has the best pint?

Brocket is an obvious answer.. Have a few real ales. Only drink real ales myself unless im not going on the beer. Boulevard in wigan is also good. Tudor house maybe?
10 September 2010 at 8:13 pm #45969Tudor House used to be a belting pub to go into, but due to management issues (In my opinion) it went downhill. Had a cracking Jukebox n all.
Agree with others, Brocket is the place I’ll haunt when I’m back home along with a selection from Wigan Lane.
John Bull is a good un to break things up when making the walk from bottom of the Lane to Ibiza Bar. :D

From the lane to town.. Boulevard is the best place to hit :) ..
I cannot legally get into Ibiza for a month or so.. Have been in once just by showing him my ID (obviously saying 20) .. and he let me in.. Clever man :)
10 September 2010 at 8:23 pm #45974That’s Wigan Bouncers for you James. :D
Don’t think I’ve been in Boulevard TBH, is that the one that used to be called Chute?

Im not sure.. John bull staff go there when they finish work. i like it. some may not. I know it DID definately used to be ’embargo’ or something.
And Wiganer78 .. Me and zoggy used to watch the away games in there.. Decent pork scratchings :)
10 September 2010 at 10:34 pm #45998up untill about 20 years since ( might be a bit out) The Boulevard was just a dirt cellar. When it first opened it was called The Boulevard Then changed to Embargo now its back to its original name. some pretty good live bands on sometime. When it first opened it was trying to be a bit classy, with Chesterfield suits and fancy food, but it never really worked out, Classy pub in Wigan and all that.
10 September 2010 at 10:52 pm #45999Rams Head at Stubshaw Cross was a proper pub , sadly knocked down, proper villans den
Cross Keys also in Stubshaw Cross again used to be a cracking boozer until Myra Hindley took over
Triangle snooker club , although not a pub, has guinness at £1.70 and with Bartons owning it , its spot on .10 September 2010 at 11:31 pm #46004Rams Head at Stubshaw Cross was a proper pub , sadly knocked down, proper villans den
