The return of DiSanto, McCarthy, McArthur and Boyce to the first XI definitely added something tonight. N’Zogbia was very dangerous, as was Rodallega (though he still misses too many). That’s the first Latics game in weeks where we can point to 19 shots on goal.
However, even when Moses and Cleverley come back, this squad will still be the weakest in our time in the Premier League. Too many average players signed by the man with an eye for a lacklustre midfielder. At last count the Caldwells, Gohouri, Stam, Thomas, Diame, Watson and Gomez are all simply not up to the job.
Was that the Latics fans singing “You don’t know what you’re doing” when Stam and Watson came on? I hope so. The time’s come to give him some stick. Whelan says he’s sticking with Roberto, but maybe Roberto will get the message and agree to leave by mutual consent to save some face for all concerned.
He may be a good manager one day; it’s laudable that he’s got the reserves and the youth team playing the same system. But at present Roberto Martinez and his third division cronies Jones and Barrow (Latics legends all – as players) are taking us out of this league.

Agree with all of that.
26 January 2011 at 1:43 am #56786yeah thay were singing u don’t know wat your doin wen thay came on.the lines man was bad language.there 1st goal went behind the line 4 a goal kick.but we should off came away with a win.good atmosphere 2.Their first goal, as you noted, came as a result of a schoolboy error in midfield leading to their first corner.
Poor decisions by the officials are ‘part and parcel’ of this game.
Good atmospheres do not win games nor keep you in the league.
I too agree with Martin, however, your eloquent prose my friend, come 6 weeks too late. ;)
Ah well!

The first goal should have been stopped if Gahouri would of closed down Young the ball would have gone for a throw in at least

Of course I’m one of those whose only joy in life is to boo the team, slag off the manager, moan and whinge for 90 minutes and thinks that Mr Whelan is the devil incarnate for all the time, effort and money he has placed in the club. It’s all there to read in my posts over the years……………
Now take your pathetic, pithy, juvenile ‘come-back’ and ram it where the sun don’t shine. No one is listening to you; not even your friends (who only laugh at you).
“Plick”
oh! and one of these to really indimidate you……
