so where are the scum playing thier yorkshire and lancashire
challenge cup semi ?
seriously though its the only sport where the entire fans from all of the two county’s game, get together one day of the year for a big love in
 :violin:
Arsenal was more expensive and further away and a game we wasnt expected to win! Unlike your game! :violin:
…and a midweek night game in London when (this may surprise you as a concept) many people work, so couldn’t make it.
Tue 10 Jan 2006.
Wigan v Arsenal in the League Cup Semi. The game was at the JJB, and of course we know it was “little Wigan’s” first ever major semi-final against one of the most famous clubs in the world. We also know that as almost all the support comes from within the town, they didnt have far to travel. We also know that the Premiership Novelty Value was still in full swing, particularly after a hugely impressive first 5 months.
Attendance: 12,181. Less than 50% full. Disgraceful.
Let the excuses flow……(without any reference to rugby, because attending a rugby semi final is hardly a novelty occasion)

For the same reason that Wigan RL got 12,117 (reported as 9,987 in the media) for their play-off game against Leeds last year: the game was not included in the cost of their season ticket.
Unlike the RL game however, which was played on a mild September Sunday involving two teams that are just over an hour’s drive apart, the football match against Arsenal was on a bitterly cold Tuesday night where everyone expected Latics to get thumped, and the couple of hundred away fans that came to the game had to travel 180 miles to get there.
You can’t expect us not to throw in a RL comparison when you’re coming on here as a scorning RL supporter.
So, the reason why 10,000 Wiganers chose to not attend the (then) biggest match in their history was “it was a bit cold”. That is almost as pathetic excuse as “it was past their bedtime”.
Still, its good to see that the missing 10,000 found their hats & gloves in time to attend the game against Liverpool a month later (when it was also cold).
As I said before, big rugby matches are nothing new in the town of Wigan, and the fans are a bit blase about them – that is why crowds for these are lower.
However, Bolton’s ground will be in use the night before when the Wanderers host Spanish side Levante in a friendly and with the Premier League season a week later, another ground had to be found.(Evening Post)
So, the RFL couldn’t even persuade Bolton to use their ground – Bolton’s priority? – a friendly with Levante, the night before.
I dont know and i dont care. remember not many arsenal fans turned up even so we know we have sh1t attendences but they are better than your so you can shuv it
 Hmm. No real explanation there other than a half-ar$ed swipe towards the rugby.
NEXT!
