I said if results go against us which includes wins and as many goals it takes to put us in the bottom 3
Those Hula Hoop rose tinters must be in your way :)
13 March 2019 at 2:25 am #177158That was gutless tonight. Given he’s in the first year of a 4 year contract I don’t see him getting sacked when at no point has he had us in the relegation places. Incidentally we are 8-1 to go down for those who believe we are certainties. Not many Managers go up from League one, make a multi million pound profit from player sales and stay up. Ever since Whelan sold up we are on a rudderless ship.
13 March 2019 at 2:27 am #177159Didnt think Dack (or Blackburn) was that good, but Powell was anonymous.
We had plenty ball and did f*** all with it. Cheap goals again.
Ffs egg stop spouting shite and say it like it is
You and Stu have to be the amongst the most naive fans we have ever had. For weeks we have been garbage coz the manager is not up to championship level. What will it take for you to see how crap we are and admit it. All you can say is “we are not in the bottom 3” well its coming and no matter how deep you and Stu bury your heads in the sand sooner or later the penny will drop.
Where did I say we were good?
You didn’t but you defend every defeat with the not bottom 3 diatribe. Egg lad, it isn’t just about the next few games but next season as well. Will you be happy to see us in the same position if by some miracle we survive. No obviously you won’t. I loved Cookie as a player and 2 promotions back to back say he has something but at this level he has been found wanting. It hurts so much because I believe we should have been good enough to be mid table but we have brought about our own downfall. The buck has to stop at the manager its the way it’s always been.

What happens next season is where IEC come into it. If they don’t spend then we will struggle regardless of who is in charge.
13 March 2019 at 2:36 am #177162What rudderless ship? We got Joe and Darren Royle the futures bright.

True.
I need to take them to specsavers tomorrow, they’re losing their tint slightly.
13 March 2019 at 2:37 am #177164Well I said we’d turned a corner, we did and fell off the cliff! If one of those chances in the second half had gone in we could have gone on to win, but that last 20 minutes was diabolical and we were lucky it didn’t end up 5 or 6.

Need another fitness camp and some warm weather training in Dubai.
13 March 2019 at 2:52 am #177167What rudderless ship? We got Joe and Darren Royle the futures bright.Oh yeah. Was being a bit naive there. Darren Royle will steer us to safety. He knows the game inside out after that stint at Radcliffe.
13 March 2019 at 3:07 am #177168I think your right there donny after every training jolly we come back looking like it’s been a weekend bender. Fitness is definitely a problem with the amount of stupid injuries we get, clinging on to 0-0 draws and rarely looking like scoring late on. As for Callum Mac, we all know what he can do, and takes a bit longer to get to match fitness, but how long is his pre season training going to last? He should be fit enough to start by now.

That’s just it egg we shouldn’t have struggled our squad was good enough but tactics and the transfer window have sent us into an un retrievable dive. The Ipswich game was where I lost my patience with Cook. Not to win that under the circumstances was a hammer blow.
13 March 2019 at 4:01 am #177173Seems there is now a pretty universal belief Cook should go. Best case scenario they give him until Saturday. That is now must win not only for our survival chances. But his hopes of staying on.
Tonight was shambolic, but we’ve seen that before. The difference was the lack of effort and players seemingly not carrying out Cook’s gameplan. For what it’s worth.
We really do seem to have imploded. We’ve gone from an average of a point per game. What are we now………one point every three games?
13 March 2019 at 4:17 am #177174Maybe the only reason he wasn’t sacked at xmas is because our new owners dont have any cash to pay his contract up.Every player is now making errors from being demoralised and he can’t motivate any improvement. As for Powell ….a luxury. 3 months injured and cameo performances since.Need players with gonads not prancing around waving to the bench after 1st crunching tackle. As I posted before he is quality when fit but unfortunately that’s not enough.
13 March 2019 at 10:47 am #177175It hurts so much because I believe we should have been good enough to be mid tableI understand your concerns, but with all due respect, IMHO your expectations were too high at the outset. The squad that started this season was largely the same squad that was not good enough two seasons ago, then too good for league one last season. Signing Vaughan, McManaman and Gibson from Sunderland didn’t strengthen your squad, as they all featured regularly for the side who finished bottom of the championship, and didn’t exactly cover themselves with glory. Windass scored goals in the SPL, but to be frank, even Connor Salmon managed that!
So, like it or not, the squad you have is one that has history of struggling in the Championship, and I’m sure the objective set at the start of the season by Sharp would have been to avoid relegation. However I do still believe that unless Rotherham go on a miracle run, you will eek enough points to stay above the drop zone. The end of the season is when the owners should take stock, and if they consider Cook has hit his glass ceiling, then its time for him to go.
Finally, if Sunderland return to the Championship next season, I’d take 4th bottom right now.
13 March 2019 at 11:18 am #177176The owners could place Cook on gardening leave and appoint an interim manager to hopefully pull us through.
Cook is suffering from stress and will not admit it so the club should advise him to see a specialist. -
