Perhaps a chance for us now to attract new fans from the local areas??
Just a thought, but there must be people who just want to watch Premiership football and at our prices who can grumble?

Why would people from Blackburn or Bolton want to watch Wigan? If Wigan had’ve been relegated & they hadn’t, would you go to watch either of those teams in the Prem? Stupid idea. :silly:
15 May 2012 at 8:14 pm #87298Met Lad n Dad, Southport-based, at the Blackburn game who enquired how much it cost to watch Prem’ Footie at Latics, and seemed very much intent on doing so next season.
Their only interest, football. No loyalty to particular club.
There’s two for yer !
15 May 2012 at 8:16 pm #87299For visitors coming into the North West who want to watch a Premier League game, then yes, I think we may pick up a few casual visitors.
If you mean people from Blackburn or Bolton, then no. There’s probably more chance of them going to watch one of the bigger local teams in the exact same way that a fair amount of Wiganers did before Latics were in the Premier League.

Fair point short term.
But long term (its highly likely both wont come up first time of trying) it should certainly help.

So nobody from Aspull, Westhoughton etc goes watching Bolton just cos they are (or were!) watching Prem footy?

if roy keane couldn’t get in what chance will they have15 May 2012 at 9:40 pm #87309Its a good point Bicky – how exactly do you get on the clubs data base being a casual football fan. I am presuming that you would have to start by buying a ticket for a low key game eg Fulham
With regard to Blackburn fans – many have defected to Chorley already (well those Rovers fans who live in the borough of Chorley)
16 May 2012 at 2:08 am #87327It is a well known fact that Nob End lost quite a number of fans to Blackburn.
16 May 2012 at 3:01 am #87330It is a well known fact that Nob End lost quite a number of fans to Blackburn. The bloke and his wife across the road from me, who until last season religiously followed Preston home and away, decided to get a season ticket for Blackburn. Not too sure I’d be happy with Mr & Mrs Chinnery if they decided to transfer to Latics next season!

I think we can all rest easy. Daughter and son-in-law are avid worriers fans plus he’s never been too happy about Latics making it to the Prem and Preston not.16 May 2012 at 3:40 am #87334It is a well known fact that Nob End lost quite a number of fans to Blackburn.
