First lets be realistic, James Milner cost more than our team so losing to Man City is no great shock but …………
We pass the ball to death and don’t go anywhere
DW said Martinez must have a plan B this season – whu did we persist with pass pas pass on a dodgy surface?
Why do we never take a long free kick – when we get a free kick in the opposition half get it in the box for Gods sake, Im not saying we should revert to Stoke and Bburns tactics but you never know its got to be better than passing it 10 times and losing it again.
That short corner at the end of the 1st half summed us up when Tevez went clean through.
I swear Moses spent 15 mins stripped waiting to come on – what was all that about?
If we have 3 attacking substitute options why did 2 involve a defender and a defensive midfielder when 2 down?
Finally this style of football is BORING !! Cant remember my backside leaving my seat today. Ive seen 1 goal in 4 games, but hey Ive witnessed a million completed passses.
People have to remember that in our first 5 games we have played 3 against Top 5 clubs. Blackpool was terrible, Tottenham surprising and Sunderland adequate. I will judge us mid November when we have had a crack at the bottom half. I agree that the squad looks as strong as ever with tactics questionable. However, lets be honest. We should’nt have a chance against a team who have spent £200 million in the last 12 months!

My biggest gripe at the moment is the role of Hendry Thomas. A defensive midfielder who breaks up the opponents attacks is all fine and dandy until you go behind. At this point the role of the defensive midfielder becomes redundant. So unless the manager tells him to push up we are always going to be a man light going forward, and therefore will always struggle to create chances. Another point which may raise a few eyebrows is James McCarthy. The lad is obviousy one for the future but at the moment I dont think he’s clever enough to outwit his marker. I watched him closely today and the game seemed to be passing him by as time and time again he gave up the chase on De Jong and Barry. The boys not quite ready in my opinion.
your both wrong – it was only 14 minutes moses waited !!
just had a thought do you think martinez was waiting for the red sea to part before he brought moses on ?[/quote]
Nah…he had to wait for the team instructions to be chiselled out on stone tablest. Ten of ‘em or so I’m told.
Thats all your are great draw against Sunderland who are an up and coming team well done lads lets get behind them we are above both Everton and Liverpool so shut up hey or right that’s it gonna knock some heads together me soon and i have got back up with James and Bob me thinks.

Did you go today???
If so you have to admit that was shoite so don’t go on about fickle fans. Those who are still going and there aren’t many deserve a medal for putting up with the dross Bob’s serving up.
The post was about whether Martinez’s style of football is boring, not particularly about results.
Yes, its really dull. We were one of the lowest scorers in the league last season, and no difference this year. One goal in four home league games, including games against Blackpool and Sunderland.
There’s no width, no variety and worst of all, no intent. And you’ve got to play to the conditions. If they don’t suit endless keepball, don’t play that way.
Martinez’s tactics are one of the reason crowds are down.
We all have to remember that Martinez’s tactical model is the Spanish national side. They were really boring this summer too. And they’ve got good players.
I think the way Spain play though, the patient build up always leads to chances, however, as almost everyone is saying we don’t have the players to pull this system off consistently. We see flashes in matches where things go right but on the whole the team is not skillfull enough to cope with teams pressing us.
Thats why you see us making silly mistakes. The players that play well in this kind of system are 100% comfortable on the ball and our players just aren’t, not a criticism of them because that is the level of player we can afford.
Also having played like this for a full season without really changing tactics other teams are finding it easier to work us out. I expect the lesser teams to press us heavier in possession and we do have real tendencies to make silly mistakes under pressure.
I’m not saying entirely ditch all the work Martinez has done because getting players to pass the ball better and use it more wisely, is a good thing, just that we need to be alot more savvy and recognise when we need to switch tactics in match situations…i.e when this isn’t breaking teams down at all, like against City at the weekend.
