not been there for many a year –
i think i actually went in our last season in the northern premier league on smiths coaches in market street before they became the shearings group,
boston won the league but were knocked back for election in favour of us because their ground didnt meet league requirements.
i also remember going for the weekend once – big gang of us – i was only about 16 /17 – c1973,
it was my first ever away stop over on my own – train to nottingham via manchester – nottingham to boston – but booked onward to skegness and stopped there – it was amazing how our big gang looked quite small as boston united fans chased us all over the show.
it would probably still be a good weekend trip though, the station is quite close to the ground –
i dont know if skeggy is any good for a night out any more, but it was 35 + years ago – first time i ever saw a bouncer on a pub door – up until then i thought that harry green and wigan casino was the only place on earth that had giant door men to give you a slap if you misbehaved.
