Cherries top of the league with a ground that wouldn’t be big enough to hold even our present gates. It would also be interesting to know the cost of their squad. What they do have is an astute manager whose players have fight and guts and don’ throw in the towel as soon as a throw-in is conceded! Good luck to them!!!

Imagine if you went to work this morning and your bosses said to you
” if you graft and work your bolocks off for the next 9 months you may get a pay rise of 5000% but you have to give it 5000% and you won’t be paid much at the moment but look at what you could get! ”
That is what this league is about and the sheer desire and hunger of the lesser paid promising players at this level is something to behold and bloody good on them.
Contrast that with the ex premier league deadwood still earning ridiculous salaries and still thinking they are the dogs b@@@@x and above their station.
That is why the leadership in the championship changes each week and teams will fight till the last second because everybody wants that big payday particularly lads who have never had one.
I hope they get up because the EPL is full of mid table flotsam like Sunderland and Stoke doing nothing but getting to 40 points and picking up the money without actually striving for anything at least they would have a go and inspire others from the lower divisions to do the same.
I remember years ago travelling to dean court and getting there very late after a nightmare journey , I couldn’t get in through the turnstiles as they were closed but the sympathetic office staff let us in for free and refused any money we offered ( the club were skint at the time- 1997 I think) them.
Smal ground or not they would be a very very welcome addition to the stagnation that is setting in to the league and an inspiration to smaller clubs throughout the lower divisions, bring it on I say and good luck to them ,they are now my second team!!!!

The shame is you would get the likes of the ‘Billy Big Boolocks’ fans of your Chelseas and Arsenals et al taking the piss out their ground instead of applauding them for a massive achievement! Fans like that are so up their own arses it is untrue!

I’m not denying the talents of their manager & players or the faults of Latics’ ones, but it should be pointed out that Bournemouth are currently being bankrolled by Russian petrochemicals mogul Maxim Denim.
They made a loss of £15mill in the season they got out of League 1 and their losses since then (whilst not yet public) are likely to have increased substantially. An article I read last week has them down as one of 7 clubs “very likely” (the others being Birmingham, Bolton, Middlesbrough, Notts Forest & Wolves) to receive a transfer embargo in January. Incidentally, Latics were one of only 3 clubs (Millwall & Rotherham being the others) who were classed as “very unlikely”.
They have also been one of the most vocal critics of the FFP regulations & have argued that it is stifling their ambition.

So yes they do have an astute manager (although he didn’t do that well at Burnley where he didn’t have quite so much financial backing behind him) & players with fight & guts, but they are also spending well beyond their income – admittedly as Latics once did
